I am looking at getting a Santos 100 rep and have found very little about the flaws and what to look for in a good rep. The info put together about some watches (e.g the omega PO) is so extensive and I was just wondering if there are any links I have overlooked which are as useful for the Santos. I am just keen to know what to look for in terms of bad reps etc. I have seen a lovely looking one on Precious Time but without knowing really what is good and bad on Santos reps I dont know whether to go ahead.

My main concerns are:
Is the strap quality a good level?
Does the Saphire look good quality?
Is the face accurate?

Any help/info/guidance greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The main problems I've seen with the dial on the reps are:
- The 'legs' of the X and the XI are too far apart (should almost be touching)
- 'AUTOMATIC' is located too high up
- 'CARTIER' is located too far down
- The dial should not be textured it should be smooth
- 'swiss made' is not correctly located below the VI
- The hour hand is too 'fat'

I don't know enough about the sapphire to comment on it. I think I read somewhere that it sticks out too far on the reps.

The rep strap is acceptable, but you can replace it if you don't like it.

Here's a picture of the Gen Santos 100 (first picture) followed by a picture from one of the vendors for comparison.

There are several versions of this watch out there, some are more accurate than others. You just have to shop around to (hopefully) find a version that you like.

Thanks this is really helpful and good for me to keep an eye out in my shopping around process.

I have read elsewhere about problems with straps which is concern so I am also considering the SS strap but would certainly prefer the leather one. Is there anywhere I can get a gen replacement or a good quality rep strap - I know there are various good quality straps I can get but I assume they wont have the Cartier clasp?

Any experience dealing with Precious Time - they seem to have good feedback on this site.

Thanks again.

The Clasp is can be dismounted and reused, the gen Strap is fantastic, but really expensive! I would go via HKTan, he makes nice ones.
For the watch, WBK has a newer Version, with non textured silvery dial and better XI - XII spacing then the first ones, on the other hand the case is a bit larger - you can´t have all :(

@jockl1978: I've heard that WBK has a newer version, but I can't find it, can you please provide a link?
