I much enjoy my PVD Fakeymariner and was thinking that a PVD DJ could look great; it would "tough out" the DJ [smilie=naka.gif] and/or could look great for evening wear. [smilie=glasses6.gif] [smilie=glasses7.gif]

What do you think?

Imo opinion the matte pvd finish on dd or even a dj would look a lot more bad ass. I know fakey only did one matte finish to a sub but I think a dj would be cool. I would think a dd would be even cooler but hey that's just me! That way the silver in it gives it more of a well rounded look. You can wear it out in evening wear or just casually.

A DD would indeed look great, but isn't it a bit more tricky to have a reliable movement for a DD? Matte looks tougher but polished and PVD may look fancier...

BTW, I'm the lucky and happy owner of the matte Fakeymariner :p

Sorry for the noob respnse but why would a dd have unreliable movement? I just thought it would run on a 21j. I've seen the pics of the matte. Could you explain how it looks tougher? From pics I always thought it looked like polished tt...am I wrong aren't I?

Ha I still think a dd would look bad a** the dj is just to old fashioned for me. Reminds me of my grandfathers all gold watch dj

Fakey or one of the RWI senior contributor may be better to answer, but I assumed that having the day adds complication... hence risk for reliability... but I may be completely mistaken!

As for the "tougher" comment, the matte doesn't capture light as much (or doesn't shine as much) and may thus look less fancy to some... less bling bling effect! I prefer matte, but I may not be the norm... and I can imagine wanting a shinier black watch for evening wear.

A Day/Date will run with a 21J. BUT the day will lag behind the date on changeover which I don't personally care about but some people might. All these factors aside the fewer complications you have in a watch the less chance of issues down the road.

I'm trying to picture it in my head and I don't see it looking good. To me a datejust is too "business" to be PVD'd...it would be like a camouflage business suit.

if you were going to pvd that watch don't you guys think it would be best to do a gloss black turnograph with the back dial, red lettering, second hand and date fonts? it seems like it would be the likely candidate for this out of the dj line up.

I'm not sure if I'd like a PVD version of such a dressy and classic watch.
However, if you're going to do one, I agree with HK on this one. Or maybe a Milgauss - the orange markers and orange lightning bolt hand would really stand out in all black. But I think doiing a DD or DJ is just a bit too much.

That does look nice (and I'm still wondering how you "photoshop" some of the idea you've posted... really nice), but I was actually thinking smooth bezel, black face with roman SS (polished grey) lettering and sticks, white number on black date, and PVD oyster band for the PVD DJ... Should that make any difference.

i don't know how to photoshop, that is a gen rolex turn-o-graph. they make them in several combinations but that one is my favorite. :D

With the contrasting colors, the Turn-o-graph might be the way to go with this one.

I'm telling ya, the Milgauss (not green sapphire) is the way to go here. Smooth bezel, oyster bracelet, black face with stick (lume) markers with orange markers at 3,6,9,12, and the orange lightning bolt arrow secong hand. The contast would be amazing, and the sportiness and quirkiness of the hand and markers would play even stronger in a stealth case.

Any photoshop guys out there (not HK?) want to spend a minute or two I think you'd see what I mean.

the milli isn't even close to being correct. no matter what you do you can't make it believable because the case is the wrong size. the turnograph is 36mm like a dj and the case is correct.

Cool vs. correct... hmmmm...
Wouldn't a PVD Turnograph be, by definition, not correct??
I agree with your assessment, HK, but since it's a "fantasy" watch anyway, I just feel the contrasts with the Milgauss would be stronger.

I think it'll look good, but I don't think it will look smart...
Infact, I'd avoid the more 'elegant' dial combos, as it would look incongruous with the 'functional' appearance of the PVD case... Something like a plain black dial, with nothing more than baton markers, or possibly Arabic numerals, would look good. Roman numerals, however, I think would be 'too classy'...
I'd definitely be interested in seeing one though :)

I'll PM Fakie and see if he can do one for me. It'll either be very cool, or a complete disaster. I'll give progress reports as we go, and post pics when I get it - IF he agrees to do one.

I really like your Milli idea... I agree, it'd look really interesting!

BTW and in case folks haven't checked: so far, 2/3 of the votes were "Not good... not good" or worse for the PVD DJ.

Now Para knows I'm not poo pooing the idea. But I did say to him that I thought his poll would not yield the desired result. Just like the RWI watch.
