The new Graham 'Overlord'

So I see from the Twins' site that the Graham 'Overlord' is now repped. This bugs me because just as I thought I'd dip back into the Panny bucket, along comes the only Graham I've ever liked--and I like it a lot. It's so, ....so.... OTT unlike all those other super-subtle Grahams :wink: What to do, what to do..... It would help if someone has one and could post a review or offer some thoughts on it.

This is the one I've waited for. It's the best looking and the most in demand of all the Grahams. And it looks damn good compared to the Gen.

I am looking at one of the Dealers on Probation http://www.watcheden.com He has a quartz version of the same watch. It has the same case and strap but has mineral crystal and quartz movement for about 1/3 the cost delivered. I had good luck buying his Quartz Oris Carlos Costa Quartz and may do the same with the Overlord mark III Quartz. I wish his pictures were better.

Just in case anyone is not familiar with the name, 'Overlord' was the name given to the operation in June, 1944 to invade occupied Nazi continental Europe. The 6th of June being 'D-Day'. Hence the Graham RAF rondel and the ship-hull background. It should, of course, have a little sound chip in it of a Spitfire Merlin engine on full song. Too cool. How do you know that it is the most poular of the gen Grahams? I can't imagine they'd devulge that info.

Hey Steve: do you know whether the quartz version uses the same case as the mechanical Overlord? I know it says it uses the same chassis, but I'm a suspicious type. You are right about the pics from Watcheden. Not good. Also, how fragile is that mineral crustal? I have no experience with them? The price sure is right!

PS: I emailed Mark over at Time Shop about the leather strap and he said it wouldn't be a problem to swap it out for the rubber. Something about a Chronofighter with a leather strap just doesn't seem right to me.

Marks pictures of the Overloard are much better than the ones at Watch Eden. I noticed the reubber strap has a deployment on it. I wonder if this strap is the same material used on the Chrnofighter diver. I had that watch and the strap was the bestI have ever seen in rubber Rep strap in over 6 years. I know the case material is the same but if the strap the same as the 7750 auto model ? I know the glass is mineral crystal. On watch eden site the face looks much cheaper looking but on marks site the face look similar to the 7750 movement.

This is the rubber strap on the overlord at marks site. He sells two versions. One on leather and one on rubber. If the rubber strap is the same as the 7750 model go for the rubber. I am not so sure of the quality of the deployment buckle.

Sorry for so many posts. The watcheden quartz overlord has a steel colored lever . The time shop has a black lever.

Steve, please don't ever apologize for making too many posts. This is why we are all here. Keep up the discussion. Here is my thoughts on this watch series.

I tried on the black/orange Chrono Diver at the last SFGTG and I actually liked it. I swore them off before I even gave them a chance. Now on to this conversation, if the quartz is 140 and the A7750 model in the 300 range (do I have that right?) I would save my money and get the 7750 with sapphire. These watches will get banged up and scratched. The mineral crystal might not hold up as well as the sapphire. That's my take on this anyway.

Neil, great information on the name of Overlord. That is really cool information to add while you are being complimented on wearing the watch.

According to the gen. version, the pusher and the lever should both be black on the Overlord Mark III. Thus if the Watcheden is steel it is incorrect--if that matters--but his seems to be the best price, but with that quartz movement.

.....just peering at the differnt faces and it appears that the Watcheden face is incorrect. It doesn't say what it is supposed to under the RAF rondel: "Overlord Mark III". There should also be strong 'riveting' on the steel ship hull plating background which seems to be missing from Watcheden's--though that may be the lousy photo. I think you are right, too, that the rondel is the incorrect size. Methinks the Watcheden version smacks of Canal Street. Not for me.

I'll second that, WE's looks real cheap.

I've got a lot of mineral crystal watches and albeit I wear them to the office and not when I 'm active, they've all held up fine. If I was going to be active I would go with the auto sapphire as well.

I recommend that Watch Eden use better pics. Remember the saying : " a picture can tell a 1000 words". I like the pictures on Trusty and Andrews site . Those guys are not perfect and some of the decriptions are incorrect such as "screw down crown" on a Bell & Ross that has a push in crown or saying "saphire crystal" that really has mineral crystal. :?

I found this Dealer Web listed on another Forum. I am not saying to order from them. I think the pics they have are the same watches that Watch Eden and others have but much higher prices. This pic looks just like watch eden's Overlord Quartz but is a better pic . ..more $$ from this dealer also. Hee Hee
