Can anyone help me out here?

I have a working movement from a GMT II a21j movement ..
and a crown/stem from a noob sub -

I can't for the life of me get the stem to stay into the movement.

I push the stem into the movement - but.. it doesn't and anything after that.
Not sure what to do.

:(

cant remember,,, is it a push button to release the stem?

Are you pressing the button as you push the stem in? Is it possible that you are not pushing it in hard enough.

Also, if it was depressed too hard,, it is possible you messed up the keyless works.
You would have to open the entire movement up and rebuild it.

I've had this happen on two of my watches. On one, I wasn't inserting the stem properly, I depressed the release lever GENTLY at the same time pushing in. On some watches you can just push the stem in and you will hear a click and you will know its in place properly.

On the other, I messed up the keyless works and the stem refused to go in. As it was a cheap asian movement, I didn't bother trying to repair the keyless myself, but I am now going through some tutorials and learning to do it.

Damn... I hope I didn't mess up the keyless..

It does have a push release button..
I've tried holding it down while putting the stem back in it..
blah I shouldn't have touched it :(

so the stem can now go into it completely like normal..
but nothing happens..
I can turn the crown and the stem also turns but nothing happens to the watch..

I know its cheap, but I just put a date wheel on it and its perfect !!
real shitty if I f'ed it up.

Might be two diff. movements????????????????????????????

well...
I'm dumb..

its 2 diff movements (movement from an GMT II and stem from a noob sub.)
didn't know there were different stems out there..
honestly thought a a21j was a standard movement and all we had to do was put different lengths and crows to the stem.

nope different looking stem all together.. no wonder why my noob stem doesn't fit it.
(I took the stem out of an expl II I have an that stem fit in it fine.)

Anyways now I need to figure out who sells stems and what the name of the stem is.
I think I also might been a new tube after this fiasco..

oh well..
at least now I know different stems for diff a21j's..

I find making mistakes is one of the best ways of learning, it gets etched on your memory that way. Keep plugging at it 7x, that's what most of us do and you get there in the end...

very true.
It just seems like such a easy/simple solution ...
and honestly.. took me 2 days to figure out because I was stead fast in my thinking that the stems were all the same (just different lengths)
I was getting ready to start taking the movement apart to try and fix the keyless.
Thank god I didn't... 99.9% chance I wouldn't have been able to put it back together again.
