I have a 6.75-7 inch wrist (seems to change a bit every time i measure it). I love big watches, but i feel like my wrists are a little too small to pull them off.

Who here has a similar wrist size? What size watches do you usually buy?

What you can pull off has just as much to do with your build and stature as it does your wrist size.

and the watch design as well.
I've got 'average' size wrists = just over 7" and wear watches from 34mm vintage up to 50mm Suunto. The Suunto has swivel lugs, so they, and the strap follow the shape of the wrist.
44mm and 47mm Pams are ok for me as well but some 42mm watches have not felt right because the lugs were too straight

I'm around the 7" mark as well. I find anything up to 42mm is fine. Over that depends on the watch.

A 44mm Paneri on a strap is fine. At 45(ish)mm a skyland on a bracelet is out of the question. Even on a strap it's pushing it for me.

If you want pictures to give you a better idea, do a search for member Pix's wristshots. He's helped me out as he's around the same size as well. And he has LOTS of watches.

I am 7 1/4 and I was hesitant to purchase the UPO due to this fact. Well I was wrong, the UPO looks great on my wrist and I believe it is 45.5mm. I won't go any larger than that though. Other watches that I own that fit my wrist well are the SSD, SFSO, SKYLAND, and OM.

Smaller wrist here! Approx. 6.25" around. First of all, a year ago I thought a 40mm Sub was a bit too big, and now I think it looks great on me. So perceptions about what's too big can change. Now a couple tips: make sure the lugs don't extend out past your wrist, and try to go for watches with thinner cases. I can pull off a 42mm watch with a thin case much better than a 40mm with a thick case. Surprisingly, I can even pull off a Breitling GT, which is 44.something mm... the reason is that the lugs don't extend very far from the case. Yet the 39mm or 40mm Audemars Royal Oaks are too big for me, because the lugs extend so far. So keep in mind the lugs and how far they extend from the case. And if possible, go to an AD and try on the genuines for size before buying a rep!

Don't worry too much about the circumfurance, its mainly down to the width of the wrist. If you put the watch on and look fdown at the watch, and can see the strap/bracelet bend slightly outwards to go around your wrist it wont look out of place. However if the lugs protrude over the wrist, so the strap goes inwards behind the wrist, I think thats a determining factor of a watch that's too big.

I agree with b16a2, As long as the lugs do not protrude past your wrist, I think it looks fine.

Anyting bigger than 44mm is a fad. It always swings back to 40-43

I used to think that before my eyes started to age :? .
Now a 47mm Pam 232 is one of my favouries because I can still read the time at night without my glasses

Too true rocketeer. I have had some watches that the date might as well not been there at all. I sure as hell could not see it!

I am starting to hate date watches. I mean what's the point? I know what date it is.
