Getting To Know The Place

First off I do not claim to be a moder, just someone who has a passion for this hobby. I purchased a noobmariner on the cheap due to a movement that was DOA. Yesterday I went over to Ofrei during my lunch break and bought a DG2813 for $15 and some change and a small tube of silicone grease. I happily broke out my basic watch tool kit that I picked up on eBay for $12.00 and opened the noob’s case back. I then removed the hands, dial and date wheel from the old movement and transferred them to the new movement. Getting the date wheel glued on and centered was probably the most difficult and time consuming task of the whole operation. I used basic Elmer’s glue stick from my son’s craft box for this as it gave me time to assemble/disassemble everything to get all the dates aligned. Along the way I purchased a used gen insert from evilbay (note scratch at 3:00).

The watch case I chose to put the new movement in is a serial number F641105. I prefer this over the F520117 (noob) because of its deeper non wock like rehaut.

Does anyone have any info on this case? I have bought so many different watches over the years, that I can't remember were I got this one. I would like to build another sub based on this case.

A couple of pictures. When I get the time I will have to repress the crystal as it is slightly off

It is satisfying isn't it? I realized quite a while ago that the only way to get into working on your own watches, is to just man up and go for it. It has cost me some cheap watches but the satisfaction of doing it and getting it back together and functioning is all worth it. It really adds a new wrinkle to the hobby doesn't it? Good job.
