HI folks,
today was a rainy day so i decided to work a little on my 1665
first of all i dont have a good camera, all pictures were made with my cellphone,
but i think dont look that bad
so...
this is the watch
so first of all i removed the bezel and remove the old factory glue from the insert.
i used a sandpaper and grinded it down
did the same thing to the bezel
after that i cleaned both parts with cleaning solvent
then i gleued the insert in the bezel by using gorilla glue on an oiler
so its tight and ready to get mounted back
but before that i removed the caseback with my selfmade rolex opener
and removed all the sealings to grease them and make sure the watch will be waterproof
so this is the disassembled watch
next i decided to give the lume a vintage look.
i wasnt sure how this could be done, but i remembered i read about laying a thin coat of coffee over the lume looks quite good
so i decided to give it a try
heres the first layer drying under a lamp
i did it twice and let it dry
after that i putted the movement back in the case,
oiled the rotor,
and lubed the stem
then reassembled the o ring
and the caseback seal
caseback mounted
only the bezel is left..., but i already like the look of the lume
i know its not perfect but its fine for me
for comparison, this is how the lume looked before
heres a wristie
please tell me what you think about it
thanks,
mike
