My review if the DSN PAM 111H
Longing to be "one of the boys" and bit by the PAM bug fromthe start when venturing in the forums, I wanted a Panerai and was not sure which would suit me best.
I searched pictures, got feedback from various buyers from various dealers.
The conclusion to me was that Davidsen had one of the "best" PAM reps out there in the 111H "ultimate "version.
It comes with the Unitas 6497, 1:1 case and two bands (choice of colors to the buyer)
First impression whn contacting DSn was the laguage barrier was shallenging but still was able to get my point across. The email lag was about 1 day and with patience all your questions will be ansered.
I made it a point I wanted an "ultimate" version and specified it would have the canon pin fixed, superlume with swiss movement.
The price was $360.00 shipped and the drawback to the buyer is he only takes Western union or MO's
Sort of an inconvenience and added cost but it is what it is.
After sending off my hard earned $$$$ 3 weeks later the PAM arrived carefully packaged with plenty of bubble wrap and a protector for the bezel. Great care was taken to ensure that the long trip from the far east would not damage the watch. Not a scratch or a smudge to be found except where my paw prints first touched this shining pristine work of art.
I placed the reddish tan band on with care notm to scratch the case, and DSN provides extra springbars for "just in case" reasons and it attached and screwed in fine. The machining on the case is near perfect. Without a gen to compare it to I cannot compare it but it has the look and feel along with the weight of a $4ooo.oo+ time piece.
The crown gurad and lever pin are flush and machined to perfect match. No floppy lever, the lever pin was flush and flat as the pictures I saw of the gen. The lever is on the losses side whn open but by no means is it floppy. When closed, the cam buts up to the crown with gentle authority and gives a feel of no need to worry about it opening uncommanded.
The crown is thick and robust. Not the palp crownsI have read about but from my measurement it's 1.9 mm thick and from my observation it looks as the gen should even with the spacing to the case. Like I said the differences could be minute as mere mm's To the eye it's appealing and high quality.

The crystal has some AR and gives a deep rich look to the dial it protects. The crown is even all around and set level with the case.
The dial it protects is the sandwich dial and the numerals look as the gen does with minor variations in the 6 to my eye. The PABERAI logo is on the lighter side and like said before is minute in recognition without a gen to compare it to. Even from pictures the color varaition is negligable
The only issue that is an "obvious " flaw and all reps have flaws and this ones is in the "L SWISS L" being close to the bottom loop of the 6 o' clock numeral. Not terrible but the most "tell tale" of a rep. May variation of this dial from a number of dealer's and for what I wa getting this is one I was going to accept.

The movement is a bulldog workhorse Unitas 6487 Pictured here it winds with a quality feel . Approxamately 40 turns to full wind and power reserve is 2-3 days. I have not timed it yet, but for a manual wind which is my first, it keeps perfect time so far and DSN's quality control in my case was superior.
The movement, the "I" in Panerai slightly cut off and the gen it is clearly visible. Good decoration, no runny or smudged paint. Makes me want to wear it inside out.

No issues with anything of the "stories" that sometimes spill out here on the forums.
In conclusion, DSN was a great first experience in my leap to super reps. I guess I got lucky with a good crown and CG. The Lume is superior and looks like a neon sign with a good charge.
With care and regular service i would venture a guess that this will last as long as any Gen and with a Swiss 6497, servicing is straight foward from any rep-frindly watch smith.
