OK - here's a question.
I'd never owned a chrono until I got my BCE from the Rubster... consequently I was surprised to learn that due to the 9 o'clock second sub (and mechanical issue related to a7750s... that is, I'm assuming you could run a gen Breits chrono all the time if you wanted to without harm) I should NOT run the chrono (aka second hand) all the time and in fact not too refrequently if but to spread the oil around a bit. Got it... but...
I've heard so very many people say, "Yes, a Quartz is more accurate than an auto, and certainly more expensive to maintain, but the jump-jump-jump of the quartz a)looks cheap and b)drives me nuts". So, here's my Q:
If I'm going to leave the chorno hand (aka second hand) parked all the time. Then, how is the look and experience of an automatic different than just having a quartz in a chrono. The hour and minute hands would look and behave the same. I have a quartz PP that has sub dials that a functional so that can be handled by a quartz. Yes, the nice multi-ticks sounds of a manual would be replaced by a slower tick sounds of a quartz, but most the time I don't hear any of my watches. Yes, it wouldn't have that "hand craftsmanship" aspect that an auto does... but the "craftsmanship" is minimal nowdays as it's a assembly line anymore - and - unless I've got a display back or turbillion or such I never see those details anyways.
Personally, I DO like a nice smooth sweeping second hand, but as I'm not going to get to see that on my chrono - what's the difference in having a quartz engine doing the work. Cheaper, more accurate, less fragile, looks the same?
I'm probably missing the difference... what is it guys (or goils)?
