I posted this on RWG, but they said I would have more look over here. LEts see if you can help ;)

Hi Guys. Bought my first rep the other day. Actually I placed an order with Josh for 2 Watches (UPO orange 45, and a Timewalker Chrono). Then I met a guy locally that claims to sell quality watches. He had a Panerai. He sold me the watch for $200, and I looked on-line, and thought it was about a 250 watch? He promised me it was swiss movement. Honestly....I have no idea what I have here. Now...here the part where you laugh. It already died. about 12 hours later....nothing. He says that this very very rarely happens.....and sent me to his jeweler free of charge, for a clean/lube. if that doesn't fix it, I get a brand new watch.

What is the quality of this Watch?

Did I get a deal (if it ever works again), or did I get taken?

Is it likely to work again?

What movement does it have?

Thanks for all your help.

That is absolutely NOT a Swiss movement. It's not even the new Asian 7750, I don't believe, looks like an Asian 21j movement to me. That's about a $100-150 watch, IMO. Probably mineral crystal to boot. Get your money back if you can....

Yikes... so sorry to hear that Koster - that is most definitely NOT a Swiss movement...
Being a member of this forum first, and then still opting to get a rep watch that you dont have any clue about, from a street vendor, is practicing poor judgement. Let this be a learning experience, try to recover your money by giving him the watch back if possible. For $200USD you can get an amazing watch here, look around, there are tons of trusted dealers here on the forum and honest members who sell their pre-owned watches for a very decent price... All in all, stay here within the community if you dont want "to be had".

Goodluck.

I have been trying to find what movement this is. It look similar to one of those Chinese ST series which cost around $13.00 for the movements. There are so many variations it's hard to definitey say, but it's not swiss.

So who is this jeweler that will service chinese movements for free??? Please report back and tell what the "jeweler" says. :D

You are more than right. Honestly, I wasn't even a member of this forum yet, and I couldn't find enough good info on the other forum to tell if it was good or not. I'm pretty sure the guy that I bought this watch from will take care of me. Not a fly by night kinda guy. I placed an order about a week ago with Josh for a UPO, and a Timewalker, and then I was at a guys house looking at his Panarai "fifty", and fell in love with it. I met this guy, and just really wanted one of these watches. Lesson learned ;)

I talked to the jeweler today, and he did tell me it was a chinese movement. He is looking at it now, and going to see if he can fix it. He does not fix things for free, he just services watches for the guy I bought it from.

How much does the swiss movement that should be in this watch cost?

The others have pretty much sums it up. This is not a good movement and the whole watch costs about 50 dollar.

Well... If it comes with Asian7750 hi beat (no ETA7750 version for this watch), it should cost you about 200 dollar.

$400+

Honestly, this watch is a poor base to start from for any modifications. If you want to start with a good watch and then make it great with a few choice mods, go with one of the "Ultimate" PAM104s from PerfectClones/Joshua or TrustyWatchGuy/TrustyTime/Andrew or the PAM104 from Davidsen. *Those* watches are worth sinking more money into, this one is not. Sorry.

I didn't plan to mod this one, I was just curious to know how much the movement should have costed. Can you send me a link the the Ultimate Pam104's on Josh and Andrews Site? I looked, but I dont know how to fin the 104's. Thanks!

I don't know what flaws these have vs. DSN's 104, though.

Sorry, I'm not much for the auto PAMs, so I don't pay attention to the flaws of each model. Someone could help you here, though. LegendOfSpeed comes to mind, I think he just bought a DSN 104 not long ago...

Trusty / Josh Ultimate 104 - subdial not sunk like it should be... which is a major tell on the dial.... incorrect caseback markings...then it's all the other normal tells (lume, crown, etc)... date mag and font is ok... it's better but strange at the same time...

DSN 104 - super-lumed but wrong color... caseback shape is wrong but the markings are correct... poor crown guard... date mag and font better in my opinion but still not all the way there... close though and it doesn't look as strange as the ultimate's fix...

I have owned both and this is all IMHO...

Don't you think that DSN 104 dial is a bit too glossy compare to gen? especially the subdial? but DSN's has more correct position for L SWISS MADE L compared to Josh's.

Peter.
