Well, yes, catchy title, I know, but this is actually planned to be a little rant.
I just asked one vintage watch dealer about their pricing on a gen big red black daytona dial and got a reply they want to sell it at just 15k eur.
And here is my question. Is it really THAT difficult, borderline impossible to achieve a replication of a fairly simple 6263/5 type dials?
I mean what the heck. In time where we get to see totally repped Rolex movements like the recent 4130 made by noob, or many more complicated dials being really well made, how come there is no source for a good 6263 dial. If Singer/Rolex were able to produce these like that 40-50 years ago, why cannot nobody replicate it now. I am pretty sure many of these would sell at good prices for someone who would try that and get good results. I would easily pay 1000 or 1200 for such a dial. And I believe there would easily be like 20-40 guys like me all over the boards.
Nobody up for that? Give me some hope!
I have a little DW 6263 that would sparkle with such dial!
