I've been thinking about this hobby a lot lately, thinking about who really tries to contribute to the hobby an who really tries to take it to the next level...

Most find forums like this because they want to buy a replica and want to know more about what they are shopping for, that is great, that is what we are here for and we dont ever want that to stop.

BUT.... how many make their purchase,, get a little more knowledgeable and let the hobby stop there?

This is why I felt compelled to give show some respect to some of our members. I think it is long overdue and well deserved.

I wish I could comment on everyone deserving but I simply dont have time. These are just a couple who come to mind quickly.

Takashi, he has amazing abilities. He has taken it to the next level by learning how to work on several different movements. Swapping replica dials for genuine dials and taking to the next level with genuine parts when possible. I could go on and on but you guys already know... he's da' Man!

If I dont stop complementing Takashi people will think we are dating or something.. lol,

Now comes the real reason why I am writing this...

Fakemaster and Watchbuff... Thank you for trying to contribute to the forum and hobby. Some would wonder, why would admin come out and support two guys who are sometimes very polarizing individuals? It's their attempts.. their offerings to make something better, not their loud signatures or sub4me style comments (well.. no one can quite match sub4me.. lol ). Fakemaster's quest for the PVD Rollies and Watchbuff's many failed attempts to modify his Bell & Ross watches.. LOL! But at least he had the balls to try.... Trying to lume and keep it consistent is more difficult than what you think. And guess what.. both have gotten closer to where they want to be. I respect them for trying to do something different, for trying to make their replicas and this hobby better.

SD4K a.k.a Seadweller4000, I have gotten to know him better over the last year, what a nice guy. Owner of the post of the year, a detailed test on many of our most popular watches. Did he do all of that for his benefit?? No, I know he didnt, that was made for the members of forums, the replica community, all of us! He is owner of some of our best replica reviews, the same ones that help us make good choices on the next replica to buy. Thanks for your efforts! We are very happy to have you on staff here.

Pix, Most of his replicas are not of the $400 kind, but his reviews are worth $1000 each. His zeal for this hobby and for capturing it with photography has got to be respect by all. He genuinely cares for RWG and RWI. He is a true gentleman and I am happy to consider him a good friend!

There are many others who contribute with knowledge that is more valuable than any monetary contribution that could be made. Many have tried to do their own luming and others have tried to make their own straps or distress their dials, etc.. I offer respect to all of you! Thank you for trying, and thank you for sharing your successes and failures with the forum!

I challenge everyone to do a review of your favorite replica. Take pictures, even if you are not good at it, Try fixing your own watch, you might surprise yourself. Have an idea?? That's how dreams and great contributions are realized!! :)

ok.. I'm done... thanks for reading... Accolades are deserved from time to time..

Nicely said D4. There is a great camaraderie in this forum which makes collecting rep watches far more interesting than just
buying and enjoying them. A community is only as good as the members who contribute to the betterment of of that community and there are a number of good souls here. I met 2 of them last night at Caesars Forum Shops. The Rebel and Legend of Speed. We shared stories over cigars and cocktails, and it was great to meet those guys.

Thank you for the kind words sir. Like I heard long ago, you have to brea a few eggs to make an omlette. We get better with each attempt and the failures are called "lessons" My kudos to the true masters here like yourself that take this hobby to the next level, not like some sideshow.
The days of the $10.00 quartz rolex are behind the members here.

I agree these guys and a handful of others are the reason this is home for some of us. I was inspired by some of these guys to dig right in and do my own adjustments and minor repairs. Hats off to you guys.

Hi all!

Ok, this is my very first post in any of the rep forums I am a member of. Why not before? Well, to be honest I haven't really considered my rep collecting, or rather buying/wearing/giving away, a hobby and haven't felt I've been in the same league as the others of you and thus haven´t had anything to contribute with.

But why now? Because Daytona4me makes a brilliant posting that really touches me. I have been buying reps for over 20 years, mainly when travelling to Asia, but it has not really been a hobby for me. The reps have been low quality and I have worn them and then lost most of them in some way. (However, I still have my first rep, a Rolex gold/SS DayDate with diamond markers. Quartz. Hideous thing. Got to change the battery to see if it still works.) Never bothered to look for forums on the subject. When visiting Thailand in Jan this year I noticed that the reps were of much better quality than five years ago. Of course still a lot of crap, but for instance I found an Explorer II that was just amazing. Apart from the wrong handstack it looked genuine! It was automatic, had a magnifying (!) cyclops and even a laser etched coronet on the crystal. I had never seen those things in a rep before! I was amazed. And it cost me less than $50! (Ok, after spending time on this forum I know it was not as good as I first thought, but it is still my daily beater.)

When returning to Sweden I started googling for reps. There were literally thousands of sites selling reps! Automatic Explorer II with correct cyclops and laser etched coronet (but with wrong handstack) for $1,200. I understood that I had done the buy of my life when I spent 50 bucks for the same watch in Thailand. After 1.3 seconds I realized that I had never had a free lunch before, and it was not likely that this was one, so I started looking for info on scam sites, and that's when I found this forum. I have been reading for some months now and you guys have really sucked me into the rep business making it a hobby for me. Ok, I have not yet started a high quality collection and I have not started modding but I have started comparing reps and I have even started looking for tools for taking watches apart. (Later on I may even start looking for tools to put them together again.)

So, what I wanted to say with this lengthy post is that I want to second D4M's posting and thank all of you, and especially people mentioned in above postings, for giving me a hobby! Kudos and respect to all of you from a newbie!

To Mr. Exploder,

First, welcome to the forum, on behalf of the many menbers the world over, you are most welcome indeed. Second, that yours is one of the better first posts I have seen in a long time. RWI is a place to hang your hat and regale the audience of your adventures in collecting replica
watches. Many call it a hobby and others call it a way of life as it is engrossing, amusing, and rewarding in many ways. This really is the best website for our kind and the contributors, staff and members are all a great bunch, cross dressing aside. Have a good time here and enjoy yourself. RWI rocks! Thanks a lot to you too D4Me. Without you, admin/mod team and the members, this forum would not be what it is today.

You guys are great! Again, thank you very much for the special mention :p It makes my day and I think my head just grew an inch :p

I never really expected to be drawn in to this hobby as I've been. I found RWI and sought out some info to try to avoid being scammed and then assumed I'd just move on. Now I'm hooked, and that is because of the people on the board. People who have answered my questions, been patient with a noob, and leant their time and expertise to the community as a whole. How cool is that. Thanks all, very much!
