I just returned home from a week in Disney World. While at Disney, I searched for a mechanical Mickey Mouse Watch as my ultimate souvenir. I failed to find a non-quartz based watch. When I returned home, I searched the net for mechanical Mickey Mouse watches. The watch I "had to have" was a 1930's vintage Ingersoll Mickey Mouse mechanical watch with "seconds at six" and just under 40mm. Ebay has many of these beat-up old watches for sale and most are beyond repair (without a watchsmith with expertise at manufacturing their own parts). But then something caught my eye! In 2007, Disney offered a limited edition reproduction of the 1930's Ingersoll Mickey Mouse watch! I spent two weeks monitoring ebay for a decent price (some were going for $300+)... My target price was $200 based on the going rate for a quality replica. Thanks to my sniping software, I paid $191 for this watch at the last 10 seconds of the auction. The story now gets interesting for our hobby... This watch is a Disney endorsed Chinese Replica of their 1930's vintage Ingersoll Mickey Mouse Watch! And they are not shy about it either! Look at the pictures! And the fact that Disney endorsed the release of this watch makes it GENUINE! In fact, I may have the first GENUINE Chinese Replica! Neat, aye?

Saw that in the case at the Contemporary Resort.

Fakemaster,
I had dinner at the Contemporary and checked the store. All they had were overpriced priced medium grade high production quartz watches. You must have seen it in 2007. The watch was limited run... how limited I do not know, but the demand is currently outweighing the supply. There seems to be only two at a time on Ebay and some bidders are paying too much. Question for you... out of curiousity, what was the retail price at the Contemporary? Are you sure is was a Mechanical movement? The reason I ask is there was a recent short-run of Elgin copies of the same watch that were quartz. PS... I am wearing your PVD Submariner as I type!

The dial seems to have an antiqued look. So I may have one of the first GENUINE ANTIQUED REPLICA's!!!... 'cough'... "REPRODUCTION Models". LOL!!! What intrigues me about this is that it does lend some credibility to the Chinese replica business. This opens the door for Rolex to commission a limited edition Chinese 5512 homage piece!

I saw a Disney Exec with a Gen Rolex Micket Mouse watch last summer.
Great find and sniping on the bay is the only way to get the best deal!

The one you saw at the contemporary was not this one. This one was issued to shareholders only, not for sale in their general stores.

the one you saw was a 'pedre' replica of the ingersoll.. and its a quartz, and usually sells around 100 bucks.

It's interesting that they did a fairly poor job of replicating this watch. Particuarly, the design is also modelled more closely after that '34 mickey as oppsed to the '33 original mickey. But yea, its a fun little watch... I've wondered.. what size is it? The original '34s I have are quite smallish watches... wondering if this new one is the same. Tried to pick one up, but the price fluctuates so much on it... 90 bucks one week, 270 the next .. maybe some day.

Give us your opinions on it.. build quality and whatnot...

also, I've had little trouble with workign on the movements in the '33-'34 mickeys. No real need to 'make your own' parts.. It works a bit different than normal watches, but its certainly not rocket science. The only people I've read spouting that were people who offered their own repair service.. 'oh, that master watch smith wont be able to figure out how the mickey works... its got a whole 8 pieces in it... including screws... too complex for his master watchmaker skills to handle.. better off sending it to me, im a real pro'

Or.. maybe it is hard to do, and I just got lucky ;) genuine '34s go for cheap (cheaper than the one you bought), and if you wish to get them rebuilt and not do it yoruself, prob run like 100.. easiest 100 bucks that guy ever made LOL. they are aparently not very reliable, even when rebuilt to new spec.. very simple machines, and not meant to still be goin this many years later.

I was considering just swapping the movement out for something more reliable, as I have enough spare parts to do it.. but that may be sacrilige

Yeah... this is why I was actually thrilled that this was a Chinese movement... BULLETPROOF! LOL!! I was considering getting the 1933/34 vintage for $20 on the bay and having it serviced... but then this 2007 Shareholder Repro model popped on my radar. I will post some pics and comments when I get some free time.

Hehe LOL! Hey, I had a touch of Disney fever! I rationalized $100 for the Chinese movement and $100 for the Disney endorsement. I paid about average what they are going for on the market. Being we recently returned from Disney and began planning Disney every year combined with my addiction to mechanical time pieces, I had to find a Mickey Mouse watch that fit the bill. This watch is mechanical, 38mm (my limit in smallness), and a classic (it's a MM watch you can actually wear that is campy yet serious, if you know what I mean). The oversized crown is what distinguishes this watch from the others. I tried on a few 44mm Bulova divers with small Mickey Mouse etchings at Disney... although they looked good, but they were quartz and did not have the "spirit" of a Mickey Mouse watch. The 2007 Shareholder's 1930's Ingersoll Reproduction was perfect... Campy yet serious, mechanical movement, and approached the 40mm barrier. I'll post some wrist shots soon!

The first thing I checked for when I got home was our Dealer supply of replica Mickey Mouse Rolex's! I would definitely be in for one with an ETA movement!

Just like Disney. You'd think they would have sent a better watch to their shareholders.

Re: Wrist Shots!... GENUINE Disney endorsed replica...

The watch measures in at 38mm including the crown, but it wears well for being on the smaller side of my taste. Love this watch! Well executed GENUINE Disney endorsed Chinese Replica of a 1930's vintage Ingersoll...

I dig it. Still a bit pricey, but as you said.. same vinty look, but bulletproof.

I need to rebuild one this weekend... its all nasty inside.
