couple of noobish questions about the tag aquaracer chrono r

Ordered my first ever rep about a week ago after reading up on the rep forums, ordered this: http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php? ... e_id=95982
but I was wondering, can you get a clear caseback for this model, something like the one on this (i`ve heard that site might be a bit iffy, but its the best photo i`ve seen of this caseback):

I know it wont be accurate to the original, but I think there is something beautiful about the look of that movement so why not put it on display?
Also, I`d like to use the chrono about once or twice a week, so would it be worth my while learning how to strip it and lube it up before I use it too much? I`ve never worked on watches but I have spent years as an engineer working on precision mechanisms.
Is angus usually slow to email the shipping confirmation and tracking info? I asked him for it a while ago and haven`t had a reply yet.

That watch you pictured is a really cheap replica with Asian 21 jewel, non chronograph movement. Unfortunately, there isn't any open caseback model for good Tag Heuer Link chronograph rep. I would suggest you try to email Ruby (can be found on the dealer's list on this site).

Using chronograph doesn't really affect the performance of a watch.

It's not as simple as stripped it out and lube it out. It requires watchmaking expertise to work on a mechanical chronograph movement such as Asian7750 or ETA7750. Please read more on this forum, hopefully you will benefit out of it.

Angus has top reputation

the world of reps is in an offworld timezone

but comes through with good dealer..

for stripping oiling, as you say

taka right on money.. needs many good tools, study through courses, and experience..

often cheaper in terms of time and bucks to have watch done..

at same time, in spite of what is often heard on forums, most of all watches do just fine

for years..

personal choice for me, to never ever use 7750 chronos..

for some reason, by not using, never had problem..

Thanks lads, I`ll email ruby aand see if i can get a caseback like that. I`ve been reading up on the forums about the 7750 chrono, but it`s a vast subject and the opinions seem to vary a lot. More reading required I think. I wasn`t doubting Anguses trustworthiness, it`s just I`m away for a while next week so the tracking info would help me know if i need to get someone to check my post for me to go and collect it from the post office.

Well that site is bad. But I'm confused. The watch in the pic is a link but you bought an Aquaracer. Either way the Link is not supposed to have a clear caseback.

I know that one is a link, but I couldn`t find any pictures of a clear back for an aquaracer, that was why I was asking on here.

Again, I repeat, the replica watch that you are looking for is really the low end stuff. You can get it at ca. 60USD inclusive shipping. Check silixwatch. If you need open caseback, I will recommend this model:

It`s not the Link I`m interested in buying, it`s the a7750 Aquaracer chrono from angus I`ve bought. I was only using the Link photo to illustrate the type of caseback I was after for the Aquaracer if one was available for a different watch that might be able to fit onto the Aquaracer.

Same reason I changed the wheels on my car, because I think it would look better. Customising to my taste.
