What's your price range? You can get some 8-watch winders on ebay -real cheapies- for $200 or less. You can also spend in the thousands$$$...

i really want to get a watch winder. i hate having to keep setting my automatic watches. I like to swap watches a few times a day sometimes. my problem is that i live in Canada and the shipping cost is usually almost as the cost of the winder itself! I have yet to find any locally.

One day i'll have to break down and buy one

My understanding is:
1 - must have 3 or 4 speeds - between around 500 and 1200 'rpm'
2 - must be able to wind each watch or pair discretely of the others
3- rotation must be adjustable - clockwise, counterclockwise, alternating (somewhere, I think I read that all 7750s are clockwise fyi).

You don't want a winder that will over-wind. The better ones wind for 10 or 20 secs then pause.

I need one also

hello
i bought my watchwinder from ebay..price nearly us200..a relay good one..for 8 watches..
good experience with it..but a principially question..
is a watchwinder good for the watch..please think about 2 points:
1. watchwinder is good for watch because of periodical moveing of movement..the oil of movement is permanent in use..
no oli stocking and so on..and keeping the time...but
2. otherwise because of permanent moving the bearings and so on will be used to much..so maybe that the movement will
be damaged after 2-4 years or so
this is the opinion of my watch smith..
what do you think..what will say all the experts of you?
please tell me your opinions..
many thanks and please sorry about my bad english
thanks and see you

For 20 bucks I bought a single watch winder from Steinmart mens dept store and it works beautifully. Runs clock or counterclockwise for one hour and off for 3. Quiet as a mosquito fart also. They retail for 50 but this place always has them on special. Great deal.

I've been eyeing this one on "the bay". Is it quiet? I don't want to be woken up at night or heaven forbid, it wakes my wife...

I have dealt with him and heard nothing but good things. I hear his 8 slot winders are superb.

Usually, the cheap WW on ebay (chinese) will become noisy within a few monthes. I have 4, and till now only one remained quiet. I'm pretty convinced it's a question of luck. It would make sense to create a list of suppliers/models with comments.
I suppose that the more expensive ones don't have this problem. I suppose.

I tend not to believe those selling WW on ebay and saying "high quality WW", "9 layers hand polished"... This is just WRONG.
I opened one of my 4 winders (did not work properly after 6 monthes) : the inside finish is just awful.

For these things, you get what you pay for....

anybody bought from them before? whats the feedback? looking for winder as well..

I bought it on Ebay yesterday. I'd think that it would arrive this week. I'll share my thoughts, but you never know with watch winders, it could start to have problems after a period of time elapses.

I have a winder with various settings e.g

wind clockwise
wind anti clockwise
alternate winding clockwise/anticlockwise

also the amount of winds per day can be set.

I have two HBB and would like to know the optimum setting to wind these. I thought I read somewhere it is advisable, if on a winder, to wind them clockwise?? Does this sound correct?.
I also have another auto watch with swiss ETA 2824m - how best to wind this?

Thanks
