Lots of good replies, it`s what you feel inside that counts.
Having been around the forums for a good many years I will say my knowledge from them has given me a better insight on what I like & appreciate. Being able to test drive most brands & models regardless of minor flaws lets us decide what we like at a fraction of the cost. I own several more gens now because of our hobby.
There are a lot of gens I would not own now because of test driving the rep model as per say...
Regardless, it` comes back to what makes YOU happy. I do still like buying reps, and modding a few choice pieces with my buddy vac. And I have reps that are so close I would never buy the gen on that basis.
On topic, yes I do more looking for gens now, some new & vintage. Thank god I`m not married. Not sure a woman could put up with my hourly surfing of sites for deals.
For me, I`m selling one of my gen Pams for the watch that has been nagging at me for a few years. A Panomatic Glashutte, just the sexiest piece of metal with the nicest movement in the world period. Have the rep, and fortunate enough to see one in person in Vegas last year playing cards at a table. No comparison on this one, gen to rep...
And I do plan on keeping it for a long time.
