Good point!! OK, minus Bill Gates and Paul Allen from my story about MOST, not all, 19 yr. old kids being pot smoking, beer drinking, non productive, broke ass, frat party crazies in college. How silly of me to generalize. :?

I could care less how much money someone has and where and how they got it. That was not the "point" of my post. I think before you point fingers and chastise, you should take a closer look at the situation.

Your right,19 is not a young age to be successful. 21 is a young age to be successful, 19 is just plain "crazy". Bob1919a is in a different league that 98% of other kids his age. His success shows that he has worked hard, and is doing something with his brain. Which is more than I can say for a large part of the 18-21 yr old, college male college population. Hell, when I was 19...damn, I don't even remember that far back...I can't tell you what I was popping more of pills, or zits.

So, maybe you were not chastising me, but you can't say "don't generalize" when generally speaking, I'm correct in what I said. OK, General??

well, all i can tell you is my father was sucessful, by the time i was 19 i made more money than he did and i didn't have time to go to collage. you will find silicon valley full of young people that have been very sucessful with computers and the internet.

Hk, I am glad that you and your Dad made money early on in life. I'm sure you are the talk of the family gatherings and statues of you and him will be erected in honor of your financial windfalls. But you are not proving your point, instead you are helping aide in proving mine. I will say it again, I was speaking of the general population of young college attending, first time out on your own, no mommy and daddy watching, kids. Not the isolated few that have the where-with-all to make a success of themselves.

I have been to Silicon Valley many times as I lived in San Francisco for 4 months while opening an office there back in 2000 (the peak of the internet boom). I understand the Digital Age has made the average "geek" a multi-millionaire in some cases. By-passing college for the "all-mighty dollar". But please, don't forget that while you are busy writing code or inventing the latest video game or whatever it is that made you a wealthy teen, there are plenty of average college kids lighting bottle rockets out of their asses in the hallways of many the Universities around the globe.

You seem like such a smart guy, why is it so hard for you to comprehend where I am coming from with this?

I agree that this is a thread-jack, guanaconaco, that is why I tried to take it off-line with Bob1919a last night. But understand that, I am not questioning Bob1919a and his net-worth, I was merely picking his brain about his business and how he got started as I was in a similar business sometime ago. It got turned around somehow that I was painting a bad picture of him. Im sure the PM's that he and I exchanged last night will attest to the contrary.

Maybe I should go back to school. It seems that I don't speak clearly enough for some to understand.

no man, nobody is getting banned. he is merely speaking from his life experiences and i from mine. that is what makes up forums and the different threads that are in them. since i was able to do it i know that anybody else can if they are truly driven and never take no for a answer.

to the op,

if your business is making enough money to pull off a nice watch? wear one! if you can buy a 6,000.00 car you can buy the gmt2c that i am wearing right now. i bought my first tt dj when i was 20. a good friend of mine bought his first yg day date when he was 21. granted, it was 30 years ago when we did this, my dj was about 2,600.00 and his dd was about 5,500.00 but money was harder to come buy back then. since i could do it i have faith that it can still be done. especially if you are getting a better education that i have. just remember, it isn't easy, if it were easy everybody would do it. 8)

Bob is good guy and I had no idea of his age. To me he is more mature than some 50 year olders whom I know. Steve7 is correct in that most 19 year old young men are recovering from a bender or paroosing for potential pootytang. (PPP for short) Surely there have been younger success stories like HK but I don't think it is the norm IMHO. Of course maybe HK's friends were successful early and that's great! If I knew now............. never mind. I learned later in life to surround myself by people like Bob and HK. You can't soar with the Eagles when your surrounded by buzzards.

Anyway,

I am part owner in a family business. I am in sales but my clients are engineers and professionals who probably couldn't care less about watches. I have not had any of my clients comment about my watches but if asked I would come clean. Life is too short.
