I 'm looking to buy a GPS for x-mas and was wondering if any members use them. I really like the Garmin series- Street pilot 340 or the 350. I really don't think I'll be using it everyday to find my way around town, but I'm a gadget freak and looking for an excue to buy a new toy.

what do you guys think about them? any advice would be appreciated

Garmin - hands down. Any model they make is superior to the competition.

Stock pick of the day - GRMN, low after a bidding war with TomTom over a nav map company, long story but it's at a great entry point. It'll be 120+ by the third week in Jan.

I have a Uniden GPS and I love it. I figured I don't need one but it would be fun to have. Wrong, this thing is great. I do not use it around town, but my 16 year old daughter uses it all the time. She uses it to go anywhere she has not previously been. As far as models remember Features=$. Look at them and decide what you would like it to do.

I have a Garmin nuvi and it is awsome. At $104 a share for GRMN it is a little pricey but if you have the $$$ go for it.

I've got a Garmin Streetpilot 340... I love it. The Mrs. bought it for me for my birthday this year and I use it almost daily. Its a wonderful thing to have if you drive alot for work in areas you "kinda" know, and pretty much mandatory when heading to parts of town you don't know at all.
All in all, it has yet to steer me wrong. If you keep the maps updated on their website (very easy to do) it'll route you around construction delays and such in some of the larger markets... who could ask for more?

The new NAVIGON ones are pretty good. I was skeptical at first, but I really love it now. It comes with free lifetime traffic report! Has great features and is pennies compared to Garmin or other big name GPS's.

Magellan Maestro series are really good as well, and are pretty well priced. Pay Costco a visit - you'll get amazing deals on it there.
For Garmin - go with their NUVI Series. Especially the Nuvi 350. :)

Just my two cents, I have used all these.
Goodluck.
