A tiny piece of folded ultra fine sandpaper and then shot it with a coat of dullcoat....completely gone!

So how did you shoot this with some dullcoat for this to blend in so nicely? You would think you could still see the new paint but it looks perfect. Does it really look that nice, meaning undetectable regarding the repaint? Job very well done.

After I removed the hands from the 5517 rep movement, I lightly sanded the "T" off. This left a little dull spot so I shot it with Testors Dullcoat. Then I aged the markers and shot the dial with a mist of light grey from an airbrush to simulate aging.

Any update on this?

Interested in how you aged the dial, as I've got one I'd like to do and one I've done.

The one I did is below (with wet caran d'ache) but I know i can do better...

I too would love to see an update. I think you did a fantastic job on the faded bezel insert.

Can we get some detailed shots of the CGs? I like what I see so far!

I am assuming that the same case was used for the 5512 and 5513. Please correct me if I am wrong. I need to start working on my 5512 project...

Ok, an update is on the way. To get yall' up to date, I started this project with the idea that a rep Sub 5517 movement and dial could be modified and installed into a regular vintage Sub case (like a rep 1680) to make a fairly good 5513. The problem is that the 5517 shares many characteristics with a gen as far as size goes. A 5517 has a gen sized dial which will not work in a vintage Sub case (non-MBW). I got to the point of assembling this watch and found that the dial was about 1mm too small for the rehaut opening.... . I put the project on hold but I am getting ready to restart on it now. I just received a Silix "no cg" Sub that I am parting out so I can use the dial in this 5513 project. The dial will take a little art work to work, but the good news is it does fit perfectly. I plan on a very "vintaged" 5513 with alot of patina. I think the dial will work out ok. I'll start a post after the holidays.

Looking great. I started looking for a gen 5513 but once I spent some time looking I realized I need to grow my budget first. I am going to take on a project similar to this in the meantime. Still doing research.
