I don't think I could pull off a rolex. I am about 6'4" and 265 lbs with large wrists, they look so tiny. Anything in full gold is probably a no-no for me either.
What are your reasons for not being able to sport a particular brand?

Anything over 45mm is a non starter for me (small wrists). I have a policy of not buying any rolex reps, because I don't want to be continually bombarded with the "Is that real" question, which never happens with any of the other brands I have, regardless of how expensive the gen version is. I also have a rule against full gold models as it tends to wear off, but I have no problems with two tone models. I used to think I couldn't pull off bling, but then I got a diamond bezel Breitling BCE and it looks just fine (even though my friends laugh out loud when they see it ;) )

....anything all gold or with diamonds. I clearly don't have that much disposable income and they would scream fake!

Plus I've never seen an all gold rep that looks like the real deal!

All SS for me apart from a TT Navi.

Only really close friends ask if my rolex's are real, and its about half and half that think they are fake (because they are rolex not because they dont believe i would spend the money). Everyone else just ask hey is that a rolex?

As for bling, the diamond BCE on leather is more understated and tastefull then a bling'ed president (I have both).

I couldn't pull off a Patek or A. Lange Sohne, anyone who knows about those watches could spot a rep. They don't look to special to non-WIS, but when someone recognizes the brand, they probably know if they're looking at a fake. I also wont touch Panerai, just too big.

I try not to buy a rep that is just too far out of my price range to be believable. I also limit the size to 45mm. For me 45mm is the biggest I can pull off with a 7 1/4 inch wrist.

anything with 'bling' on it, gold, diamonds, high polished.. being a blue collar worker and always working with my hands, the 'bling' just wouldn't work..

I love my sub, takes a beating and then some ;)

My rule of thumb is to avoid buying any watch that the gen value approaches five figures. I have worn a gen Rolex Datejust for years and my associates know and expect that I would have watches in that price range. Anything above that price range might call for unwanted attention or scrutiny.
