What would be your first rep purchase?

Personally I would skip the Omega SMP GMT, PAM 111H, PAM 063, and PAM 127, and jumped right into Davidsen's Fiddy.

Honestly, I think I would still get a Black Sub. Next to that, probably a Davidsen Fiddy or a SOSF.

If I could start over, I wouldn't buy a rep.

This hobby is just too addictive and time consuming.

I disagree. If you hadn't gotten all the above PAM reps, you might not have grown to like the fiddy. If you hadn't grown to love the 44mm, you'd thought 47mm is too BIG.

If I could start over, I would make a watch savings account and save for two gens.

My "old case" Swiss 7753'd PAM196. I'm wearing it right now and I love it. A pricey pick-up, but well worth it, IMO.

My first rep was a white dial/black subdial Speedmaster, which I picked because I had grown tired of the black dial Swiss Army watch that I had been wearing for a few years. I ended up not really liking the white/black Speedy combo, and as I added new reps the Speedy got less and less wrist time. An attempt to sell it was unsuccessful, but then I thought to contact the original dealer, Paul, to see whether I could get a replacement dial. Voila! A new, beautiful black dial/subdial speedy that has renewed my appreciation for the Speedmaster.

The second thing I would do differently is skip most of the $100 "what the f__k" impulse rep purchases that are gathering dust in the bottom of my watch case.

I'd buy a Seiko, be happy, know the current time, and be done with this maddness. :D

I couldn't agree more. Although MY favorite rep is my DSN 127, I originally bought a 217 from TWP and sold it two days later. I could not handle the jump to 47mm. 176H, 113G later, the 127 caught my eye and rarely has left my wrist since. Funny, it seemed ridiculously huge 3 months ago.....

The gen PAM250 daylight that caught my eye at Shreve's, the one that started my PAM fever.

$7000+ for one watch

Could have stopped there, but then I wouldn't be able to wear a different watch every day of the week.

If You Could Start Over...

My first rep watch purchase was a Patek Philippe 5070. Cool enough watch but I hardly ever wear it. (BTW, contact me if you'd like to buy it  ) Now I wear my DSN PAM 217 about 85% of the time and my 2 rolexes the other 15%). But Davidsen's Fiddy is currently being shipped to me. And I have a good feeling that this watch is going to muscle in for some good "wrist time" as well.
