Short-Sightedness

Some of our dealers and gen manufacturers, that is.

I was interested in a Omega Seamaster Pro black so I read everything I could find about them. By-tor's reviews and comparisons were by far the best info I found. Armed with this info I asked several of our sellers about certain features and subleties about the models they carried. One told me to just buy a gen, needless to say I'll never buy from him. Another promised some pics and never sent them after repeated requests. Another said that what I wanted wasn't made and never had been. But By-tor's reviews told me they had.

I just bought a gen Omega Seamaster Pro GMT off of eBay.

So not only were our dealers short-sighted by blowing me off and losing the sale and future sales, the gen manufacturers are short-sighted in their prosecuting rep dealers and makers. Because of my interest in reps, I bought a gen.

If money is not the issue then buying a gen is the best alternative no matter what the motivation. Too bad that you were blown off but you came out a winner anyway. Congrats on the watch. :D

I for the most part have gotten fairly quick replies from dealers concerning what they have in stock. As far as recommendations go, they will pretty much try to sell what they have in stock and offer to drop ship from their source for items not in their inventory. I have a gen SD but haven't seen a quality SD rep with the correct HE valve and thickness so I went with an A21J Vipmariner Sub 16610 which I've been pretty satisfied with as a daily wearer. I also have a gen Planet Ocean 45mm (black bezel, white numbers and black strap) which I've worn twice and have just purchased a rep 007 CR PO with strap and have some issues with it that will hopefully be resolved from the dealer as I would to use the rep as alternative to wear the gen only special occasions. I get certain vibes from dealers and if you don't feel satisfied with the answers to your questions then take your business elsewhere as their loss is someone elses gain. I find courteous responses, offer/notifications of tracking numbers and the offer/follow thru of resolutions of issues very important. I don't mind paying a little more from a dealer whom I've had a good experience with than someone who offers a lower price but is an absolute douchebag when it comes to replies and questios. Stan

Beauty watch and nice price Pacsman, congrats mate.

Yeesh... your experiences with those un-named dealers is pretty rough. The few that I've chosen to deal with on a regular basis have always been prompt, truthful and polite... wonder if any of the ones I deal with are any of the ones that gave you hassle?

No hassles really. Just unresponsive and dismissive. They seem to be well thought of otherwise. I didn't mention their names because I didn't want to trash them when many members sing their praises. Maybe I just fell through the cracks. Maybe.........but the feeling that I got was that they just couldn't be bothered.
