I'm a noob, somebody please help me! Ok, so I've read through many of the posts on Sub's, and have come to the conclusion that the noobmariner is my best bet. So the question is, are they available, and can I purchase one with a Swiss ETA? Thanks.....

Silixprime has one for about $150. I think that it is the same as the $188 subs offered by Joshua and Andrew.

no, noobmariner has asian 21j movt. and go for around $100~110.

what silix offers for $150 is a Swiss ETA Movt. that goes around $150~$200.

for the price....go with silix~

yea....overall they looks better than eta sub....but that pimple looking pearl just kills it....

so if you wanna go with noobmariner, make sure to get a new bezel insert from watchmaterial.com
they got some decent bezel insert with nice pearl....

Man I gotta tell ya, my heads spinning like a top! VIPmariner, noobmariner ,TTK MBW, Rivers $99 Sub, Pauls perfect Sub ,Silix. Everytime I read through a tread, there's a different Sub being recommended. I definitely want a Swiss ETA movement. So I need to go with the Silix Sub. But the problem is that the Silix doesn't have the nice dial like the noobmariner right? No Wait, I remember reading the Silix was alright , I think. Oh what the hay, let me read through these threads again......

The Noobmariner is a name given to the Asian powered Sub offered originally by TTk. It was offered at less than $100 and allowed "noobs" to get started in the hobby with little expense. Other dealers responded with names like Beginamariner, Nymphomariner, VIP mariner, etc, etc. The sub is probably one of the most accurate in appearance to date. The demand for an ETA version prompted dealers to offer a "Classic" sub which is the "Noob" with an ETA movement. I have acquired four of these with both movements from various dealers and can tell you that they look like they came from the source. You will be hard pressed to tell any visual difference between the "Noob" and the $150 Silix or $188 Perfect Clones watches (Andrew's has a different crown) except for the change in movements.

Ok, I think I got it. So I'm going to order the Silix Rols003-h (ETA-2836 25j Nickel Movement). It's a noobmariner with a Swiss ETA.

You made the right call!

Delmar,

You made a good decision based on some excellent guidence. Just remember the more you study and read the more faults you will find with any Rep. You need to pick the best features/flaws which you will be happy to live with or correct in the future. These reps are not perfect, swiss or asian. One Rep might have the best crown guards, best bezel thickness, rehaut, caseback, lume ...ect.

No doubt about it though, You will be happy you got the swiss engine. This is just the begining my friend! Happy Hunting!

the Rivers $99 Sub is the best deal,i had mine repaired because it stopped, the watchmaker changed a part in the movement, don't remember what part, but he changed the broken part with and eta part and serviced the entire movement for $50,he said i was sure it was an ETA,when i told him it was an asian copy of ETA,he was very surprised by the quality,he also said,i don't see why this movement wouldn't last you as long as the ETA,he said there the same, now my watch is running smooth like butter and will be working for a long time.

Just my opinion, but unless you are going to open the watch up and stare at the movement why spend the money on the nickle movement? Go with the $130 version. The silix rollies are nice quality, I think they have a better bracelet then others (no sharp edges) but it does use a different case, and is alittle more "off" visually then the noob. But they look great, and run well.

Coop....I've read about the $150 Silix reps, so I assumed that is the watch at the new price. So is the Silix rep a noobmariner? Anyone......

I think the sub is pretty much a rite of passage in this hobby. I am currently at 9 different subs from different dealers. My favorites so far are:

Paul's so called perfect (noob like, shallow rehaut case with eta, date in correct position)

$188 Josh ("wok" style, deep looking rehaut, date far to the right)

Josh Beginmariner (noob case, asian mov't, mine has very bad bracelet, crystal is installed crooked, but for $100 delivered can't complain)

Hands down my favorite TTK MBW (beautiful deep and thick rehaut like gen, better bezel than the others, needs a hollow midlink bracelet)

A couple pics just for kicks. From left to right: 1) Pauls So Called Perfect (notice the shallower rehaut), 2) Josh's $188 (hard to see but the rehaut is very conical, looks nice and deep though) 3) TTK MBW (has it right, look very carefully at the deep and THICK gen like rehaut)

They are all very nice and you pretty much can't go wrong with any of them. If I could do it over, I would personally go straight to the MBW (I would have saved a crap load of money) ;) ....

I really don't think Daytona could have picked a better name for level 1 than "Who has the best sub?" So true it hurts...

Is there any chance that you could compare the 3 versions when it comes to placement of the crown. Is the deeper mbw rehaut pushing the crown lower than the rest of the subs?
