When does your date flip?

In the reviews that I've read here I don't recall reading much, or anything, about making sure that a buyer check to ensure that the date flips exactly at midnight.
I've seen replicas where the date begins to turn around 11:30 pm and then finishes almost an hour later.
Does this topic not get much attention because such a low model is not even offered by RWI endorsed dealers. For instance, buying a R0lex rep without the hacking mechanism these days would be rare I'd hope, even for a noob....no?

There are two types of date change.
Fast and gradual.
The 2836 calibers have quick date change, and should be calibrated to do so exactly 00:00. By quick, I mean instant. 1/4sec to change, blink of the eye
The 7750 are sloooow. Probably an hour? I have never tried that. By the way, one of the modifications that hublot does to the 7750 before it places it in the BB, is to add a quick date.

This is the general info. Now, regarding what you will receive, you should ask for the specific model the dealer or here in the forum. Maybe some other member has one and can pass the info along.

My 2836 subs click over quickly aroun 11.59 or around 12.

But after service,... most of them click over quickly at approx. 12.5 or 12.10

must be the way they are set with the hands.

FWIW, my VIPmariner generation 2 sub with the DG 2813 movement, hacks and has an instantaneous date change about 12:03 AM.

I am not ashamed to say that when my wife (no more dates for me) tells me to flip, I ask if this means I'm free to buy whatever I want, she say's "yes".... and .... I flip.

I'm weak, I know... I've come to acceptance....

Some of the reps I have change at about two minutes before midnight and some change at about 2 minutes after. In the TZ level 1 class they said "it is better to have calender switching a bit after midnite rather than before", but I do not know what the reason is for this. :?
