what's the reputation of watchmatker9? If they are no scammer, I don't mind being the guinea pig.

I never ended up actually ordering a Watchmaker9 watch, after many back & forth emails with George of WM9 (not to be confused with the "George") and comparisons, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, I determined that he was essentially offering subs that could be bought here for considerably less. I would not go as far as to call him a scammer, but his old watches were just nice subs with a "nice" price.
This new case however...
After looking at the case it is very obvious that it (if WM9 really produces this case) is a completely new style of sub case, made EXACTLY like Gen. The major and I mean major (because you can not mod it out) flaw with rep subs is the bezel & rehaut. I have taken apart just about all the rep subs made over the last four years and not one has a bezel click mechanism that even closely resembles Gen.
If you look at the teeth cut for the ratchet on the bezel on this new case you can see that they face in toward the center of the watch not down, or underneath like all of the rep subs. The bezel on almost all rep subs is too thin and has the wrong angles. This new case gets the bezel design right, which seems to allow for the right thickness of bezel and also appears that it would accept a gen insert without thinning it out. This will also give the added bonus of allowing the crystal hieght to stick up above the bezel insert and look just like gen.
It is difficult to get an idea of the rehaut depth without the dial in place, but I would think if you went this far to rep a gen 16610 case, you would get the rehaut depth right as well.
My guess would be that if Watchmaker9 really does put this sub case into production, it won't be long untill our favorite rep dealers will start to offer this new case as well. If the case is as good as it looks and enough people start asking for it, I would think our dealers here would not only start making it, but will probably offer it at a lower price than Watchmaker9 - based on past experiences of "exclusive" dealer watches eventually being offered by all of the dealers.
If this case ends up being as good as it looks, the question of "Who has the best Sub" may finally be answered...
Very interesting - I would keep my eyes on this case...
