I think the genuine case looks a bit more solid and have a look at the CGs - they are not spikey enough...

Just kidding. Can't see a thing.

what's the reputation of watchmatker9? If they are no scammer, I don't mind being the guinea pig.

All I can say is B4 I came back to this board I had bought several watches from WM9 and was atleast happy with the customer service he gave. I bought a stainless sub it was okay, a Patek, and a tt blue sub that he replaced with a blk one I like better. Having trouble with the tt black sub he refunded my monies no questions asked. I have been buying my watches from dealers here since based on price for sure.

There was a long thread about watchmaker9 awhile ago on either RWG or TRC.
If I remember, a member ordered from WM9 a blue TT Sub, so called ultimate f0r something like $470, right after that WM9 came out with a "superior" version for well over $500.
Needless to say, the memebr was really upset about this, thinking he was getting the best version for his money.
There were other comments, I believe WM9's offerings were pretty much trashed by the more knowledgeable members.
His stuff is no better than our dealers, and he's pricey as all hell.

Not bad, though. It'll help to see it with a movement in for rehaut, crown position, etc

From my untrained eye they look real nice but I'm not ready to shell out over $500.00 for a Sub. Apparently "other dealers" sell these so-called Ultimate versions, so the only difference is the price between them. But it's always statements like these that bother me,

"This is the finest quality reproduction you can find on the market. Other Swiss replica dealers are offering this great timepiece at $850 US dollar. Buy this great watch directly from WATCHMAKER9, the expert of Swiss ETA mechanical watches, at manufacturer's cost those dealers purchase from us: $529.99 US dollar, safely with much less money."

but I guess thats just normal advertising hype for those untrained eyes like mine.

the tube hole looks quite centered. I hope it's not a gen case they are showing. I take it with a grain of salt where it says moving the production to Europe.

One of the two is a gen, the other is the new rep.

To get a centred hole and the right rehaut, I suspect it's doable with a 2892 movement, but I seriously doubt that's what they'll use.

This watch intrigues me. Looking at the comparison pics, the rep has a slightly thicker bezel but the rest looks pretty good so far. I'm not sure whether to go for it and risk the money. Tricky this one!

I've decided to have apunt on this one so we will see!

Filled in the pre-order form and received details back straight away with an order number and confirmed price of $499.
I may be throwing money away on faked pics but I'll risk it for other members to see what happens and more importantly what arrives!!

The case looks great and the tube hole does look really centered.

It make you wonder if someone would just make a case that would accept a 2892 and let us put one together ourselves (i.e. supply your own movement). Then they could make money off of the case.

@Watcher - thanks for taking the plunge. I would love it if it could take genuine parts without too much effort.

Please let us know.

I wish I did. No - but it is nice to know that if I were to ever come up with any - I have the right base to mod!

Very interesting. I can't wait to see what Watcher gets in the mail from watchmaker9. Watchmaker9's 2006 subs were just the Noobmariner with an eta movt and the ubiquitous serial number F520117.

And of course, if he does have the "perfect copy" case, maybe our dealers will start carrying it also, and maybe for less money.

I never ended up actually ordering a Watchmaker9 watch, after many back & forth emails with George of WM9 (not to be confused with the "George") and comparisons, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, I determined that he was essentially offering subs that could be bought here for considerably less. I would not go as far as to call him a scammer, but his old watches were just nice subs with a "nice" price.

This new case however...

After looking at the case it is very obvious that it (if WM9 really produces this case) is a completely new style of sub case, made EXACTLY like Gen. The major and I mean major (because you can not mod it out) flaw with rep subs is the bezel & rehaut. I have taken apart just about all the rep subs made over the last four years and not one has a bezel click mechanism that even closely resembles Gen.

If you look at the teeth cut for the ratchet on the bezel on this new case you can see that they face in toward the center of the watch not down, or underneath like all of the rep subs. The bezel on almost all rep subs is too thin and has the wrong angles. This new case gets the bezel design right, which seems to allow for the right thickness of bezel and also appears that it would accept a gen insert without thinning it out. This will also give the added bonus of allowing the crystal hieght to stick up above the bezel insert and look just like gen.

It is difficult to get an idea of the rehaut depth without the dial in place, but I would think if you went this far to rep a gen 16610 case, you would get the rehaut depth right as well.

My guess would be that if Watchmaker9 really does put this sub case into production, it won't be long untill our favorite rep dealers will start to offer this new case as well. If the case is as good as it looks and enough people start asking for it, I would think our dealers here would not only start making it, but will probably offer it at a lower price than Watchmaker9 - based on past experiences of "exclusive" dealer watches eventually being offered by all of the dealers.

If this case ends up being as good as it looks, the question of "Who has the best Sub" may finally be answered...

Very interesting - I would keep my eyes on this case...

I contacted "George" at WM9 (no, this is not the "George" of MBW fame if you were wondering). Anyway, he assured me that the 16613 TT will have the Genuine style bezel, correct crystal height, rehaut depth and shape exact to genuine and that the case will be 1:1 with the plan to have genuine parts be interchangeable. He told me the watch should be done by mid July.

As I have already tried to build the "perfect" TT with no fewer than six different TT watches, cases, dials and bracelets etc and I am already into this project for an amount beyond reason, one more watch won't hurt. I am one email away from commiting the $625.00 (yeah, I know, it is beyond reason) to see if this watch is what WM9 says it is.

I have access to some Gen TT parts (crown & bezel) that would complete this watch to as close to Perfect that you could get and I am extremely curious to see if this case is really 1:1.

If it is - I believe my quest will be over! (at least untill I find another watch to try and perfect)

I will keep you all posted. If someone else decides to bite the bullet, let us know if the watch is everything WM9 is claiming it is.
