I saw a guy nearby Chinatown in Oakland today selling a gold bracelet and a SS presidential day-date with diamonds on the dial. Looked like a real nice watch, not sure how much he wanted for it but I passed because the potential of it having an asian movement is very large and also the presidential definitely is not my thing. It's a pretty watch though, but usually street dealers here want $75+ for a replica when they are actually selling a 25 dollar watch. Actually I think the presidential rep doesn't have numbers between the lugs and other goodies that we prize on our subs and newer model datejusts.

Good decision,,

Highly unlikely that I will ever purchase anything off the street.. unless it is GZ or certain markets in BK.. then.. I might just stop and take a look. :)

under no circumstances, never - ever - stop in the streets of Oakland.
unless you want to get into a lot of trouble....or unless you are black and have some goodies for your
brothas and sistas.

i live around the corner.....i think Oakland still holds the sad US record for highest murder rate.

great neighbourhood to by a rep watch...and the dealers are only selling the highest grade replicas there...
they are true quality fanatics...and offer only the best of the best....

yeah right !

come on guys LOL I'm talking about west oakland by the city center. you'd have to be a p*ssy to not feel safe there. btw damn you are a lot bigger than the black guy selling fake rolex on the street there man lol that'd be mean. he's a pretty nice street peddler though, I flashed him my omega and he wished me a good day. I don't know if he only had one watch or if he had more, but it looked like one you can get from silix for about $37 + s/h.

sorry...one of the highest murder rates....it seems it has extremly improved ... OAKLAND is still ranking to be far more dangerous then Washington DC.....per 100.000 inhabitants ( other crimes )

Louisiana has the highest murder rate at the moment.

sad, sad, sad.....but Oakland is my neighborhood. so i am careful when i drive through there.
and believe me...i saw enough crap on International Dr.

no need to go there.

quick question - OT

Is where Oakland A's play considered a dangerous area?

I am going to the game next month - and this post scared me a little

I've been to a very nice part of Oakland, and I didn't feel at all in danger :)

the stadium is in east oakland...so yes its in a bad area. but on the other hand the bad guys dont care about you, they care about making their money, not yours.
its not the same oakland as in the 80's.these kids are making more money than most of the guys in the S.F. financial district,so they will pay you no mind unless you try to act tough, then the will test you (for fun).

just dont end up in the wrong part or get lost in the wrong neighborhood.
i know- there are wonderful areas there....
its just like Palo Alto....wonderful, Stanford university, beautiful little city, clean, very expensive to live,

you end up in EAST PALO ALTO......good luck !!
i am not kidding !!
my buddy drives a Tow Truck....and refuses to go there after sunset....not for no reason....
think thats all stories ? of course nothing might happen...but dont push luck to hard.
same thing with Hunterspoint in SF and several other wonderful neighborhoods around here.
I mean, no reason to go explore.

Well... they should make Hollywood movie about this "darker" side of the town.
