One of the latest HOT watches on Celeb wrists is Ritmo. In addition to their long list of celebrities wearing their watch, they have product placements in a number of tv shows and movies including, Entourage, CSI Miami, Snakes on a Plane, Oceans 12, and 13 soon. In fact they seem to be a new brand built entirely on product placement and celebrities. You can read their PR and see their collection on their web site:

http://www.ritmomundo.com/collection.html

The Ritmo Mundo Ponte copies the Panerai CG and most of their models seem to be copies of one watch or another, but hey they are the official watch of the Indy Racing League and is every episode of American Idol on Randy Jackson's wrist so Reps must be good.

Ya gotta wonder, if Panerai's CG design is patented, why on earth wouldn't they go after this brand??????

Their ponte collection has been retired - wonder if panerai came after them?

yeah, pretty cool website, but the top model definitely seems to be a clone of Panerai's look. The patented panerai crown guard is a virtual clone on this piece.

Panerai must know of this watch with so many celebrity and event endorsements and not care or the patent is not too strick. hmmmm

I don't think it's just total circumstance that they 'retired' that line, I bet panerai brought out the Italian navy and sunk their ship for tm infringement'.

when I first saw this watch on CSI Miami I thought it was a Panerai until I looked it up and saw this POS. Very disapointing to me.

maybe their patent ran out. rolex's patent ran out years ago and that is why seiko gets away with making some of the watches they do.

just out of curiosity, what makes it a piece of crap?

piece of crap is in the eye of the beholder. this beholder think it be crap.

but now we must define crap....relative to watches. imho, they use a lot of cheap quartz movements and the diamonds are way too cheap to be of any quality. hmmm, ETA movements are pretty cheap....maybe they are crap under my definition??

I need help as well....what makes something a piece of crap? besides being made of fecal matter, of course.

I dont know to much to call them that but the design does not appeal to me. Now if they do use cheap quartz movements and cheap diamonds then they are POC.

looking at there watches i don't see the lock leaver on the crown guard so the patent infringement won't work. it is not the same design.

Add some diamonds to it and I will take a Divina right away.

Besides that, I think there garbage, I can't believe there total knockoff's. And all this time I thought Randy was rockin a Frank Muller. The ones that they make for him w/ diamonds though are pretty ridiculous.

As a vintage watch collector for many years, I can safely say almost every watch company has copied one anothers look at one time or another. They are the first to complain and bitch about the rep world, but they themselves are as bad as the next one.

Take the Knotty lug (50's era) design and you will see so many dup's it's comical. LeCoultre, Bulova, Benrus, Longines, Blancpain and Hamilton all have versions and there are so many, I'm not even sure who started it. Right now Seiko has a version of the Hamilton Ventura, so it has been happening since watches started being made.
