the problem is that all officials assume reps are to sold as gens due to the fact they cannot understand why someone would willing by a counterfiet item.

All they would have to do is spend five minutes reading various posts from this forum.

I also don't understand all of this talk about him being"a rat".

Is there really concern that the authorities will come knocking on our doors because we are documented as buyers in his notes? I feel comfortable with the concept that they are more likely to be concerned about where he was obtaining the watches, and not who he was selling them to.

NO NO NO NO

I meant RAT ON OTHER DEALERS (RE:FORUM DEALERS)

Like TWA said, this guy was selling reps as gens... He's done well enough that he doesn't need to rat anyone out he has the fund to get himself a very good attorney.

"Counterfeit goods represent a financial loss to legitimate businesses,
governments and taxpayers. These goods are often cheaply made and not up to
Canadian standards,"

Mmmm, I didn't know there was a Canadian standard for watches,

I've never seen a government that didn't try to impose standards for EVERYTHING.

If he was out to scam he deserves to go to prison as its clearly fraud. No one tries to defraud us as we know what it is what we are buying. However some people here might come under the guise to buy watches as reps and then try to pass them off as gens. I hope no one from this forum ever tries to do that or well have the cartel come after them.

This can't be true. They can't lose money to me....I can't afford a gen, so what have they lost....   However I think I should charge Rolex for advertising their product for them!!!!!! :D

and the canadien standard for watches is probably much more stringent than the swiss standard!!!!

I suspect that the biggest issue for the RCMP and the Canadian Govt is unpaid taxes. Reps are not ilegal in Canada but not paying taxes is.

Actually, the Canadian standards for watches is the same for everything else; they sell you the item, and then apologize for everything. Settle down, it was a joke!

You typically get in much more trouble for selling reps, than buying. Although that tangfolio dude would be in sure trouble for just having a collection as large as his.

I agree with what cucumber said. I live in Canada, and I know very well that the law states there is nothing illegal with purchasing or owning rep items. The problem is selling them. First off it is illegal to sell an illegal item, and secondly it is the unpaid taxes that these people don't pay on unreported income.

The tax department in Canada has gone after bike gang members for taxes on unreported income from proceeds of crime. I dont think the average guy or gal who buys two or three watches a month, and then sells them to buy new ones are really big time criminals in the eyes of the law in any country. Its when you are selling 100's of them that it becomes a problem. The bottom line is that if you sell a fake as a gen and get busted, too fricken bad. If you sell a rep as a rep. even if you turn a small profit, I don't think its a big deal.

Fuck, I know cops who have free to air, download pirate dvd's, etc. Don't be stupid and you don't have a worry. Enjoy our sport.

Yep , this reminds me of the old DTV days when it was gray market and then turned black , people getting busted everywhere but just the sellers making a huge fortune and not paying taxes ..

What the heck is "... Canadian standards.."? Reps are not up to "Canadian Standards". Does that mean if they where up to Canadian Standards it would be OK to sell them? How do Canadian Standards compair to Swiss Standards? Just a foreigner trying to learn
