Removing stem on a asia 21 movement

So got this movement

And i have to remove it because i got dust at the inside of the crystal.
So i have to remove the movement and first release the stem
I know i have to push gently the stem release thing to get it out.
But after finishing cleaning etc.how do i get the stem back in??

Do i have to push the stem release thing again and then put gently the stem back in place or what is the best thing to do that

Push the stem release again as you are inserting them stem.

As you push it rotate it a little, you will feel it click into place. Check to make sure you can set the date and time.

Dont push to hard, and make sure it goes straight in.

And that is the problem i have some say i have to push it again when in inserting back the stem and some say i dont have to do this.

I already messed up a movement some months ago when i joined this forum

maxmlian what kind of movement was it in your case????

So i gave it a try and i did also push the stem release when i put the stem back to the movement ant the watch is still working!!!
I am happy i did not messed up the movement.

I can second that... this was a 200$ lesson for me the first time I tried to remove/recase a movement... since then started the TZ watchschools and have learned loads.

With the 1,2mm scredriver it is sure that you dont push the release button to deep that is the only think about it.

Just push the relase button in and get the stem out.

Navi basically hit the nail on the head... but to be more specific...

ETA's have a "slot" on either side of the stem release button... it is 1.2mm wide. If you use a 1.2mm screwdriver, it only allows you to depress the button far enough to remove the stem and not cause damage to the keyless works that lie just below it. I found this out the hard way as I alluded too above... I used a springbar tool my first time, never again.

Three pounds sledge-hammer should do the trick.... or you could just repeat the process in reverse...

Some advocate "turning" the stem/crown slightly as you insert it... it should "click" into place.... then make certain that the hack catches, quick date change functions and time is adjustable and your homefree...

I'll admit that its pretty nerve wracking the first few times.... 'specially if you've messed a movement up prior doing the same thing incorrectly.

Just removed my first movement today to clean the inside of the crystal : that gives the dial a much better contrast ! It was really dirty inside... :?
I'm really happy about this first and successful trial.

Be careful! I pulled the crown stem out on my SMP GMT a few times and replaced it with no problems, but the last time I put it in, it just wouldn't catch. Now it's stuck on time set mode all the time, so it jumps a few hours when I screw in the crown!!!
