Who's got the best pug?

BTW I read all the posts at RWG on this just now (had no idea there was such a huge post in "General Discussion"--as I just kept checking the Paneria section for a response to my query)

You know that "tag" thing I was talking about, LMAO, I can't believe I didn't figure out that was the "recent post" section when you access a persons profile! As you can see, I spend most of my rep time here and every now and then go back to RWG and TRC. I am not familair with how their boards work as much as here.

Anyway, after reading the thread from V and the comments from Bean, I will say that my call/assessment was probably a good one on this. I also reviewed the apology thread and even though I was hard pressed to see a clear cut apology, until after a few other people stated this same observation in that same thread, I am once again glad to see that a truce exists and the apologies have all been accepted.

Maybe we can all learn something from this I hope?

OK , so who's got the best bucket?

Lmao well i have a great shovel if u have a great bucket, lol

im just glad no one got crazy on this thread cause we dont want drama to come over here we want watches, lmao

But without a gen movement it's a rep- pure and simple. That's the deadest giveaway on Pam reps.

At $1100 why not just find a clean used Pam for $2500- They sell them this cheap on Paneristi all day long.

It's not just cost it's value- An $1100 Frankenwatch may have great value to you, but limited resale value unless you intend to sell it as a gen and defraud people.

A cheap gen with box and papers will retain it's value, and in the case of a cheap, clean used PAM- probably appreciate over the years.

Your net cost to own the gen is less. It's not like a gen Pam is $50,000- and if that was the case ANY rep would pretty much be outed by a knowledgeable watch lover anyway.

If it's the hobby aspect of it then fine, I do get that. The why even mention the money- it's your hobby...

Aquaracer, the only reason why money was mentioned was the shocking factor after i have obtained all of the parts and then i talled up the damage. One thing i have learned is to set a budget and stick to that, i have found that you can buy parts right now and pay a higher price or you can wait for someone to get rid of some of the items you need and get them at a cheaper price. In any case i see im among the select few who have spent more than 1K, judging from the response i was quite suprised to find that people were willing to spend up to $500.

I suspect that some parts will always command a premium: Gen dials and hands, Jimmy's Crown Guards, etc

it really boils down to passion and love of the hobby to me and many, for me i would spend a grand or a bit more on a watch that may cost 5 grand or more in genuine but only if i know it will be a really great piece afterward

on the other hand i would never buy a omega smp in a replica for 2 or 300 bucks knowing i can get it in genuine for a grand , but u see many that do this

the omega po and breitlings r for me in betweeners , lol they actually messed up my whole theory , cause used to i wouldnt spend 500 on these reps being the gen is just around 2 grand , but now these reps r so good and u can still save by spending the 500 for them , lol

i guess its all about what makes u happy , i can tellu this i have bought probably 10 different omega po's in the past year just to see which is better and so on , and i know by now i could have the genuine paid for and then some but i think of it as part of my hobby and smile , lmao

Joe-

Yeah you're exactly right- it's all about hwat makes you happy!!

But since the OP was looking for opinions I ventured mine-

Yeah I'd pay up to $500 for a really, really spot on replica- I've paid in the low $300's for the IWC INgy Chrono Titanium and the Steelfish and the Fiddy- and they're great looking watches that run perfectly and FEEL gen to me.

For me personally, the hobby aspect doesn't really come into play re modding and such- But yeah I'd by all means pay a few humdred bucks to have you or vacuum or ziggy turn a $250 rep into a realy good watch.

Limit

Based on whats out there I wouldn't spend more than 400 to buy a rep. Who knows with service and mods down the line though

$350 is my limit on the rep, but I'll usually pay for servicing and lume (+$250), so I guess about $600 all in.

Old thread but what the hey.

My limit is $250-300 for a rep. On top of that, I'm willing to spend money to get it serviced and maybe lumed (and if I knew how to remove the crystal, I'd perhaps send it off to chieftang for an AR run).

Not too much into the idea of buying gen bezels, dials, etc. but it's a consideration for the future.

Oh, and I'd add about up to $120 for a leather strap.

Any rep that the base cost is over $300 e.g. HBB, isn't worth my money.

I'd say my limit is 500.00 just spent about that much on a Fiddy and full modding by Flav. But I have to say the results are more than worth it (just came back today the lume is UNREAL!).
