I heard ETA 2834/2836 should be bidirectional, and can be wound up counterclockwise as opposed to Asian copy's being wound only clockwise. Is this true?

If so, CCW winding ETA is just as "healthy" for the movement as CW winding?

If you are going to use watchwinders, I would suggest setting it to bidirectional for ETA2824.

I was talking about manual winding; so winding manually CCW doesn't work? I thought I heard the rotor clicking just like the CW feed, except for the force doesn't exist when winding manually CCW.

I read this in RWG post by Ziggy, unless I misunderstood.

??? :?

manually winding in the CCW direction (or Down, i guess if your holding the watch face toward you)... is probably not the greatest idea... What your hearing is the clutch catching and releasing...
Unless I missed something somewhere... ETA movements wind (and all other "bi-directional" movements) from the rotor Bi-directionally... most of the asian copies wind in one direction only.

Bi-directional from the rotor = Ok
Bi-directional via the crown = not so ok.
