Hey guys...
For people that are familiar with asian valjoux 28.8 bph...
i received my pam 187, gorgeous watch...but it would not run...no amount of shaking, etc...
would get it going...
so i decided that i would return it back to the dealer and as i''m staring at it...i randomly push the 4 o'clock
pusher....and all of a sudden the chrono hand starts running and the watch starts up with the 9 o'clock subdial
second going....

what is going ?

i'm just letting the chrono run right now...my question is should i return the watch? i don't really want to deal with
the hassle but at the same time I don't want any further problems...its been running now for 15 minutes...

any suggestions at this point?

If I understand you correctly, the chronos are now running due to activation of the 4 o'clock button.

That is normal, and it is how the chronos are activated. If the chronos are not activated, the seconds dial will not actually run, but the watch will finction and the hour and minute hands will operate.

Pull out the crown to the first position, and give the watch a wind, about twenty rotations will do for now. Screw the crown back in and turn off the chronos.

The watch should run, so keep an eye on the minutes hand over the next five minutes.

If that is not running, then you do have a problem.

Remember, the chrono functions only operate when activated, so don't be alarmed when the seconds dial stops and resets. It will remain like that until you activate the chrono button again.

this is the sequence of events...i didnt' correctly address the issue..

1. in morning received watch...was working...second subdial going...hr/min working
2. changed date and time....don't remember if it was between 10 and 3
3. put on watch winder
4. came back at 6 pm, and the watch was stopped at 12:30

shaked it, etc...nothing going on...decided that it was broken...

randomly pushed the 4 o'clock , chrono started working...second subdial started working...everything has
been fine since...have not stopped chrono...

I would notify the dealer that this happened and then I would keep the watch for the next week or so to ensure that it stays running.

well its been running...and i've been running the chrono now for 5 hrs...

one question about the asian valjoux, 28.8 movement...
is it loud?
meaning...sometimes if i shake it and listen...it sounds like a swishing sound that sort of dies out...
hard to explain a noise in words...
does anyone know what i'm talking about?

The swishing is the rotor that winds the watch when you move your arm. On the Asian movements the rotor movement can be quite loud.

Alot of members have noted that they have loud or 'clunky' rotors in their asian 7750s.

Mine can get quite excited sometimes and really lets you know it is there.

So, it is normal for a bit of noise and vibration from that movement.

All in all, a very good movement.

If I wear mine all day, then maybe twice I will hear or feel a whir of the rotor. But it certainly is not an issue, in fact, I like to know that it is working away as it should!

I agree with peepshow. I would give the dealer a "heads up" about the issues your having. I also think that if you have issues from the begining, after a while they may tend to get worse. I might also unscrew the back and take a look and see if there is someting lodged in the movement and that's what is causing your problem. I've read posts from members that have done this and found crap that shouldn't be there and removed it and there watches worked fine afterwards and this will also give you a chance to use some silicon on your your o-ring gasket to help insure a good seal and proper fit of the caseback. I would also strongly caution you to only be as invasive as your skills will allow. I'd also suggest you give the bezel markers a few tugs to insure that they are set properly...I lost the five on mine and I almost cried. Good Luck :)

Another thing to remember is that the asian 7750 movement many times have problems to get "charged" on a watch winder.

Try it on your wrist for some days if it stops on the winder.
