I picked this up on eBay recently, received it yesterday and put it on a 20mm NATO strap, as I found the rubber strap a little long and the end flapped a little. It's very rugged and makes me want to find something manly and adventurous to do.

ps. That's a watermark on the crystal. I wiped it off once I'd seen the photos. If it were a proper rep review, I'd clean the watch and reshoot. As it's not, I can't be bothered. :D

I really like that watch and may purchase for a nice rugged watch for activities. Nice choice on the strap.

It's weird, wearing it makes me feel lazy. I look at it and think I should go out and do something. It keeps telling me "Get off the keyboard and go do something, you girly-man!"

I think it's possessed.

The Seiko dive watches are really nice. I own the Black dial one too, and a orange dial one. Very nice pictures Pug.

Nice. It seems to be, yes.

It's definitely telling me to get on with something, like a decent pair of walking boots. You can't look at them without feeling pangs of guilt you're sat on your arse.

Maybe I'll get my toolkit together, fix my mountain bike and go out for a burn.

I am very attracted towards this watch. What's the diameter of the case?

42mm.

It's funny, I thought I'd sell this watch on, as I realised once I'd bought it I didn't need another Seiko as my Orange Monster arrived from Thailand, but now I don't think I'll sell it. :D

great looking watch - looks terrific on the nato. kudos!

For those of you state side and familiar w the Nike commercial about Jordan "it must be the shoes" - for Pug, I think "it must be the pics".

The NATO strap really brought out the animalistic side of this watch. It stopped being a diving watch when the rubber came off and it became an adventurer's watch when the canvas went on. I'm considering one of those more rugged NATOs that have never before appealed to me. Those Rhino ones or whatever they're called.

I've Always Wanted One...

...but I am more of a unitas man. Perhaps the Invicta Diver would do it for me. Although I have been considering the F.A. Jones with swiss unitas, and I see that some dealers are offering Pam with Swiss Unitas, sweet. Ahh, the life of a newbie. Everyday is a learning experience.

Again, Great pictures PUGWASH. Awesome as usual.

That strap fits the watch.

Old thread I know......

Once again we are heading down to Cozumel for a family scuba vacation and after reading about getting reps back through customs and diving with them... the hunt was on for a good diving watch. After looking around, I REALLY liked this one (SKX779) plus you can get them for an almost unbelievable price. So, I bought two. One is a gift for the dive instructor, Alfonso, down in Cozumel. He really helped my wife and neice start diving last time and he will be working with my son this time. He really goes over board (pun intended) to help when we are down there so I thought this would be a nice alternative to the tradition tip (of course if he prefers cash that is fine to). The seller I bought from on ebay was 99watches or Big Time Inc. They where not the cheapest but they where in the states (no customs worries, and shorter ship times), the shipping was cheaper and they offered to ship two for the same price as one. So, it came out just about even. Then of course, went over to westcoasttime and ordered up one of those G-10 nato straps. Can't wait!

I just throw this question out for an answer...

I heard that the Monster has two versions: the true original version from Japan (with the proper dial marking) and then the ones they seem to make in Hong kong.

Now, the ones that come from HK are a plenty, all over the Bay and TZ....

I would like either one of the version (dont matter to me) but , and here it is:

if reps have cehap ass Asian movements that, once dead, cannot really be serviced easily because of unavailability of parts, is it also the case for the Monster?
Is the movement in the monster Asian like the reps and are they servicable by anyone and parts readily available as well?
