Educate me please. How do you know the bezel ring is bent?
Well, I don't know it is. I'm assuming the guy removed it at least more than once to swap bezel inserts. Removing it with a case knife is something I've found creates some issues with how "true" the ring is. When TC installs it from a factory fresh bezel, I'll assume it's 'true'. True in the sense of a bicycle wheel true, where there's no potato chip factor (wobble) at all. It's 100 percent flat and true.
You pry it up to swap the bezel, and you do it with a swift motion with a case knife against a single lug. Is the ring still true? Or does it have an ever-so-slight bend? Do it again, does it have a slight bend? And a third time.... this time it's not a quick snap up and it gets caught on something... you can see it half on/half off the crystal ring... by this time, the bezel washer is shot, the bezel ring is bent. you reinstall it and when you turn the bezel, it requires different amounts of pressure throughout the 360 degree rotation (alternating between less and more effort during the rotation).
The rolex tool to remove the bezel has a 4 jaw blade. I've posted about this before. It comes in on each of the 4 lugs, and scoops underneath the bezel ring and pries it up with even pressure all around. I presume that if Rolex didn't think there was an issue using a case knife, they wouldn't have this tool for the job.
I speak from experience....
