GMT II Replacement Bracelet

Hi All, I have a GEN GMT II random serial. I have been wearing it on a Nato strap for fear of damaging the stainless band.

Do any TDs sell just the replacement REP band that will fit the GEN watch? I would like the highest quality band possible.

Contact your TD, they'll be able to source you a bracelet.

Don't be surprised by the inferior quality, though. The gen bracelet is fan-freaking-tastic. The rep doesn't even come close. It is fine if you have nothing to compare it to, but you will definitely notice the difference. You know you can have your gen polished center links periodically repolished, often at no charge, right? Many big ADs will do that for you as a courtesy while you wait and try on other watches.

The brushing and polishing on the rep isn't anything like the gen. The edges don't have the same smoothness, and the clasp flip lock tolerances aren't the same. Also, the position of the first link connected to the SEL is wrong. There is a gap between those links. I'd save the money and buy another nice strap with it. Just MHO though.

I sourced the JF GMT master II bracelet from my TD for 75$ plus shipping. I'm still waiting to get it though. It has the best possible SEL though compared to the noob bracelet

Another idea: if you are indeed ok with the rep bracelet you can send it to zocker4711. He refinishes the brushing and polishing to gen standards. He also smooths out all of the sharp edges and makes the links feel smooth like the gen. Just another option to consider if you do end up buying a rep bracelet and want to improve it.

Mendota, thank you for the suggestions. I have PM'd zocker4711 and will price out a modded rep bracelet. I understand that I can have the bracelet polished, but I would personally feel much better beating up a rep bracelet. It is a little easier for me to be careful with the watch face, but I find that the bracelet is easily scratched and gouged.

Completely agree, those polished center links scratch up just by looking at them. Has anyone tried out darkening their rolex engraving on the inside of the clasp? Saw a thread on here a while back but can't find it.

As I continue my research, I have 2 more questions...

1. Is the submariner bracelet the same as the gmt 2 bracelet?

2. Is there a particular rep/version that has the best bracelet? I'm thinking that it might be easier to buy a rep that comes with the best bracelet than to try to email around to TDs to find a bracelet.
