Can you switch handsets between manufacturers?

Hi guys,

Got my PAM 320 today from KW which is a watch i've been really looking forward to. Pulling it out of the box i couldnt have been happier, the quality and detail are fantastic.

Well apart from one thing that i picked up pretty quickly... the hands.... are way too short. It's one of those things you dont necessarily see straight away, but once you do.....

So my question is, is it possible to switch hands between manufacturers? If i were to source a set of PAM 320 hands from say ZF, both for a A7750 are they interchangeable?

The hands look fine to me - unless there's something wrong with your watch... Pictures?

But of course... I just need to work out how to post them from my phone.... Mine does not look like the kw picture above, the hand barely touches the hour markers

The minute hand is roughly the same length as the gmt hand....

and I think the intime rep you posted a pic of may actually be the ZF one? It's the P version yeah?

I think this is a rather new version than the other KW ones in the guide. It has a non inverted movement, with the correct Twenty Nine (29) jewel inscription. The hands are shiny... and I mean REALLY shiny like they are painted in chrome paint. It does not have the sunken CP, but there is something off about the look of the CP... its almost as if its a fake cover over the CP which is part of the hand set.... if that makes sense?

A better way to show the difference is with the Lume I think. You will notice on my one the hand lume doesnt quite touch the hour markers whereas on the other one it cuts about 1/2 way into them. The hand appears to be about 2mm short. Similar to the issues with the original batch of KW PAM 438's / 441's. I havent quite worked out whether the hour hand is yet or not.

back to the original question... is a hand swap possible?

Hands are designed to fit movements. So if the handset you want to swap is made for the same movement then there shouldn't be a problem with swapping (i.e. hands that plug into an A7750 should fit in any A7750). Where you are likely to run into trouble is trying to fit hands made to fit a specific type of movement into a different movement (ex. trying to put seiko hands on an ETA movement, or gen ETA hands on an asian clone movement).

Thank you. I hoped this would be the case. Im going to try and source some zf hands i guess... bet the lume is different on them though :(.

Will post a review on this new PAM 320 soon. It has some really good points, and some not so good ones - the hands being the major disappointment.
