Got my IWC rep today, but the case back was reflective like a mirror (which is a common problem amongst the older IWC portuguese reps)
Tried a quick-fix courtesy of the friendly superconglomerate 3M, what do you guys think? (I also need to rotate it to upright next chance I get....)

Brilliant! What type of 3M product did you use?

Step 1: Scotch tape (Painters tape/Masking Tape would work as well. The idea is to protect the area that you don't want to be brushed. Note that I already started the brushing process, this was the second iteration which is why it already looks a bit brushed)

Step 2: 3M Scotch Brite, unpackaged and cut in half for easier use

Step 3: Line up a box or other perpendicular flat surface in the direction you want the lines to go. The idea here is to create a "guide" for the pad so that your lines are straight and consistent. Use small, deliberate strokes

Very impressed! How deep have you gone with the marks?

Thanks for sharing this with us, would definitely be useful for those 3714 owners for sure

When you first start with the brushing, it has only cursory marks and still has some reflectiveness. I brushed it until I had consistent patterns with that of the gen, and stopped after a bit of tiny adjustment (really short strokes)

Great, thank you for the clarification
