Want an Aqua Terra. Miyota, or A2824?

I've been trying to read up about Omega rep movements. First off, let's rule out the 21Js. Just not my cup of tea.
I want to get an Aqua Terra Captains watch. Should I shoot for the Miyota, or the A2824? Both have the 8500 series decoration.
Does anyone have experience with either watches. Or movements?

I'll be going through my dealer Trevor. He's always been very good to me.

Advice between these two.

The second hand of the miyota version has a slight 'jumpiness' or chopiness to it, although this isn't that noticable unless you stare at it. It is made by the V6 factory which well already has a very good reputation here (PAM's, Omega Seamaster Co-Axial, etc..)

The A2824 has a smoother second hand than the miyota and is made by the BP factory if I'm not wrong. Good luck on your hunt :) !

Magrette-watches did a nice and complete Myota-Eta comparison here: http://www.magrette.com/miyota-eta.php
The 9xyz Myotas are superior to the ETA. Now regarding the 8xyz ones... imo they are better than the 21j but inferior to the Seikos in the 5 series. My Seamaster 300 coax has the Myota 8xyz inside and runs fine and reliable but the seconds hand just stutters visibly too much compared to the Asian ETA-clone.

My vote it for the Myota. First of all, its a gen Myota vs a Chinese eta clone. I've had a PO rep professionaly adjusted and it's running better than my identical gen. 0s/3 weeks. Also, the 2824 isn't really decorated if you compare it to Myota. A Myota would pass for a gen if you don't know the details, a eta - never. And last but not least, the gen 8500 beats at 25k and change, which in noticeably slower than the sweep second 28800. Myota beat rate looks more like the real deal.

Well adding on to what everyone else has said, the 2824 version is not nearly as nicely decorated as the Miyota. This may make it problematic if you need to service it or finding replacement parts. But if the movement decoration doesn't concern you, then by all means go for the 2824

I have the blue Miyota rep. If the blue color of the ETA-rep had been anywhere near the gen I would probably have bought that. The rotor noise of the Miyota makes the watch sound a little cheap. If you don't care about the decoration of the movement and think the dial of the ETA-rep is good, I would go for that.

I think the dial on the Miyota is 10x better than the 2824. But I'm a sucker for nice butts and high beat movements. Ugh.

The miyota isn't accurate, no yellow tip on seconds and omega is silver not red as per gen
I have a Swiss 2824 version and its lovely

We should all boycot the recent V6F omegas with cheap Miyota movements.... They rarely should have put a high end Miyota in. They messed up :(

I thought about buying the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial, but the Miyota movement put me off. I like my Aqua Terra rep, but I'm probably not paying that amount for a rep with that movement again.

Have it adjusted by a watchmaker, you'd be surprised how accurate that Miyota can be. Mine is like 0s/two weeks. Way better than the gen 8500. Not to mention the beautiful finish.

I got a Swiss ETA version about a year ago and had to send it back to Andrew for repairs as soon as I got it. He did fix it but the weak part was the bracelet. Very stiff. I'll probably need to give it the spa treatment or replace it with a nice leather strap.

I should also add that the crown occasionally comes off when winding too much. A bit of an annoyance. Lovely watch otherwise.
