Hi guys,

i've been reading here for a few weeks already and think it helped me a lot with choosing what i want.

The idea it this: i want to get a TC V6 and replace the movement later on with a franked yuki 3135.

The franken part obviously to make it reliable. My question is this:

What are parts you absolutely need to replace to make the yuki reliable? i have seen several mods but who can tell me what would be really necessary?

thanks..

I heard only servicing will make it reliable. Replacing parts is more of making it look like gen 3135 i think.

^ this. I don't think replacing the TC 2824 with a Yuki will make it more reliable. Maybe if you replaced it with a gen ETA that will. Also once you replace the movement with a y3135 you will also have to replace the dial (or cut the TC dial feet) and hands. If you want to franken, just replace the insert, crown and crystal.

I meant serviced yuki3135 not 2824. I didnt like the stiff crown and slipping as well as opposite setting direction. I didnt know we had to mod dial to fit y3135. Is that true? And who do i ask for?

I have never owned or worked on a Y3135 but I'm 99% sure its setup for a gen dial? Also I believe the y3135 movement needs gen sized hands. The dial feet on a TC dial is in the ETA position.

Just looked at Yuki's site. The dial and hands are for a gen Rolex setup. You would have to cut the dial feet on the TC dial (or get a gen dial) and change out the hands.

Jeff is correct you need gen dial and hands. Just put on a gen crown with wso tube, genuine insert and crystal if you must. Y3135 only needs to be cleaned and oiled maybe regulated too

The slipping and stiff crown is a result of the TC crown, not the movement, which means you will need to replace the crown too

Just use the search function http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/202827-Gen-Parts-on-a-Yuki-3135-movement
Then you can add gen hands and dial or reglue the feet from the TC and thats it.
TC Case does fit gen 3135 without any mods.
But with all gen Parts for a superfranken you could get an gen rollie for the price or even less.

If you have the money, the skills and the right tools try it, but if you screw up on reassembling the 3135 you will lose a big amount of money.

Is cutting the dial feet a difficult task or can it damage the dial along the process? What are the chances? I was going to switch to gen hands anyway but i didnt know i had to work a little on tc dial to fit y3135.

I thought the crown was fine. It was due to the tube and oring.

Is the crown problem? I thought the tube and o ring were the problems. Wso tube will fix the issue? My yuki3135 will go to misiekped for service.

Well slipping when winding or screwing down the crown?

I assumed you meant while winding.

You might be right

when manually winding. I thought the crown was fine and not need to go gen.
But i didn't like the 2824's counter clockwise setting anyways so.. y3135 was a must for me and now I need to get the correct tube too....

If the crown is slipping when winding, the clutch in the crown is worn and the crown needs to be replaced.
The TC tube will accept the gen crown with no problems

Cutting the dial feet are really easy. I have always used dial dots (sticky glue dots) to re adhere the dial to the movement. Anytime you are handling the dial, you run a risk of damaging it. Nothing mentioned is hard to do if you have the patience.

Here is a rough idea of cost for the parts.
y3135 = $350
hands = $50
gen crown = $60 -$150
gen crystal =$100- $200
gen Insert = $100- $200
someone to mod it if you can't = priceless j/k I have no idea?

I thought the y3135 accepts gen hands and gen handset costs more than 50
I think?? And if i have to glue the dial to the movement whats going to happen when it needs service? Detach it??

when I say buying hands, I'm thinking about Clark hands or similar.(notice I did not say gen) You can just pop the dial off and reattach it using the same method...not a big deal.
