Hey guys,

Was wondering for Rose gold APs if hey get scratches is it possible to re brush/sand or would it just expose the steel layer below? Any has experiences with that? Or do we have to re plate it all?

It's just such a turn off when picking up rose gold pieces on m2m!

No brushing or refinishing possible on RG or Black PVD without replating afterwards. To add to the hassle: the existing plating has to be removed before replating.

Thanks J, I knew you would have the answer!
Then I'm gonna avoid rose gold reps on m2m then. Especially those with scratches.

I know this is over a year old but this is a major concern of mine when it comes to buying a RG rep. They look amazing but I'd be very afraid of dinging one up and having such a noticeable mark :(

1) When it comes to removing the plating, what would such a cost be plus the addition of replating?

2) I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to get an SS case and have it plated myself in gold. That way I can control the thickness and color?

The gold plating is actually fair and holds up well enough to occasional use. I would avoid all gold bracelets though, metal to metal contact will only accelerate wear spots.

1) Unless you know people that like to work for free, every operation in curs a cost.

2) That would require the dexterity to completely disassemble and reassemble the watch, find a competent source for plating then hope they can match the proper color. Most RG reps don't use actual gold plating, BTW. Sounds like a lot of needless hassle.
