And none of these budget builds are even remotely close to gen spec, anyway. The gen was 38mm. Very dainty compared to the size of the Silix, Tiger, and HR which are all 40mm. [emoji2]

Hi Gents,

Actually, Tiger-Concept Cases (6538-369 and JB5508 are the same; I had both in hands to compare) are 38,6 mm without crown.

I knew this thread about comparison but in my memory - wich could be altereted - there was no Tiger-Concept case.
More than that, design of both Silix and Tiger have evolved and I would really like to see them side by side, nowadays.

These rep cases are considerably larger than the gen case. The Tiger takes a 28mm dial. The Silix takes a 29mm dial. For comparison, the gen dial is 26.xx mm. These reps are quite a bit larger than the gen size in every aspect. They are not gen spec.

And don't forget guys, Bonds watch had a 18mm strap !! Not a 20mm one. It was a bit sloppy, but, it was a 18mm [an in & out nato style strap, called a 'sports strap' in the day] on a watch that has 20mm lugs!! If I'm correct, NATO strap is 16mm.

Yep, it was 16mm. Very undersize. 18mm would be only a mm each side. It's more than that.

Technically it's actually an RAF style strap, not a NATO. And was originally made (and still was until 'that' particular issue) by Corvus, who had the RAF military contract.

Phoenix now makes both styles, but the RAF is the correct movie one.

Hi guys,
I re-modded my 6538. Here is what I did.
Yuki dial(37mm) is too small to install in my rep case, so I attached plastic board behind the dial.

Next, make dial and hands matt with spray.

Finished!

^ I like the texture on that dial. Did you do any aging to the markers or is the spray all that is needed to remove the gloss and add texture?

How much spray do you use? Just a quick pass over the dial while you are spraying or do you go over it more than once?

Here is what I did.

First shot. Brand new.

First mod : Aging of dial and hand, scrach and fade of bezel.

Second mod: change dial and hands. Mod of lug.

Then , Third mod is above. Again,

There is no repaint on Yuki dial.
Just sprayed on it.
