Sorry to sound stupid... what does an "RG watch" mean? I'm really liking this watch. Seems like a nice size.

From Toro? With sapphire crystal and the Miyota movement ?
Got my finger hovering over this or the IWC Portofino Automatic.

I know ..... Simple solution, get both. But .........

I know this us useless without pictures bit this is my initial quick "review"

Just picked up mine today, dial is a beaut, slight silvery hue to it when light plays on the surface.
Strap crap as per usual but not as bad as some I seen before.

Date is centred and not sunken or too deep set compared to the gen pics I have been looking at.

On to the crystal,
well, I have been tapping and comparing the pitch to my other watches and it has the right sound to it. It also feels cool to the touch longer than my plexi glass watches. Have also poked gently with a needle along the bezel rim and it does feel like the needle point will not mark it... obviously I have not applied any significant force but it has a different feel to it compared to the plexis that I own.

The tactile feel, touch, smoothness/friction etc is the only thing that makes me a bit uncertain, it feels somehow more like a plexi but that could just be up to that I don't have any other sapphire crystal watch with this dome shape. Anyway the glass is clear without imperfections.

So my verdict is that if its not Saphire crystal it is at least a plexi of very high quality possibly with a good scratch resistant coating on it.

Winding is smooth, its definitely based on an automatic and probably a Miyota 8205, finishing on the decoration is good, equal to the Aqua Terra 8500 (I have a Deep blue dial version)and the Miyota stutter is not visible on the watch I received.

Awesome. When you get a chance, some pics and wrist shots would be great. Any more details and your overall impressions, is it worthwhile etc. ..... Again .... When you have the chance. But thanks for the quick first impressions.

It is a looker for sure, general fit and finish is great, a really nice dress watch especially once the strap is replaced... but I´ll wear it as is without hesitation.
Probably the next best thing after a gen vintage Genéve with hobnail dial.

Got home ad did the water test and it definitely not Sapphire, good quality plexi is my call. Not unhappy with the watch regardless.

Unless you use a diamond tester, the water test is not a sure fire way to determine sapphire due to the different types of AR and other factors. Trust me on that.

True, could also be mineral... but I'm calling it good quality plexi as not to mislead someone thinking of buying.
At least until definite proof of Sapphire can be presented

It's probably safe to assume spell check remembered what you typed in your history. God or Good... It's all good. ;) Nice watch and God is good!

Kronop, Yours is having the same flaw as mine - date is little aligned to the left (like noob subs).

Some models also have problem with hour markers (12,3,6,9) - not glued properly, so one could look longer than the other.

Besides that - great watch, wonderful dial, ultra clear plexi.

Movement is a typical low beat Miyota, but on mine the stutter is not noticeable.

After changing the strap to Bellini almost gen like.
