Fraudulent activity?

Hello friends at the RWI forum,

So I recently decided to pull the trigger (my first rep) on a Sub-C with a trusted dealer on this forum, everything was fine or at least I thought it was,
When confirming my payment it displayed a message saying "error completing payment"
I used a visa CC.

Was this a big mistake? After having phone calls and text messages from my bank saying there has been suspicious and fraudulent activity on my account I began to think it was... Great.

Turns out my bank provider has locked and seized my account meaning I cannot make any payments to anyone (and this is my card that I use for everything!!).

I've messaged the TD and he says that we should carry on by using WU/Wire transfer which I am neither familiar nor comfortable with using.. I really want to carry on with my order but I am unsure with what to do.

Also how do I explain this to my bank ?? "I was making a payment for counterfeit watches??".

Am I stuffed from here on out?

Sorry if this was the wrong sub forum, I wasn't really sure where to put it that would be appropriate.

I did thorough research but obviously not enough..
Thanks for your time and interest. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too bought my first rep this month. Used WU, it was easy, fast, plus the TD gave me a discount! I will use it everytime from now on!

I have this all the time, best off using WU or PP if you can

Call your bank. Ask them why they locked your account. Authorize the charge or if they won't proceed, use WU.

The dealers here are called "trusted" for a reason.

Sorry guys I didn't mean to come across as slating the dealers or anything, I know full well this is a mistake on my behalf by not telling my bank.
I was just looking for suggestions to get out of this sticky situation.
Thanks for the help so far.

I already have, my bank basically told me that they cannot discuss this over the phone and I have to meet with them in person.

BAC recently locked my main acct for making payment to a TD via PP. I had to sort it out with their fraud dept over the phone and update contact and notification info. It took 10 Minutes, never had to reveal item I was purchasing.

Maybe getting a prepaid credit card might be a good alternative to a bank card.

Most banks will flag cc payments from out of country expecially china. Typical fraud prevention. Mine called me and asked if it the charge was legit i said yes and it when through no problem.

And yea it can be a bit stressful but dont worry they are calling to see if it is fraudulent. You dont have to tell them what its for at all i just said of yes i made that charge and that is it. If they would ask for some reason i would just say online shopping

You pay for anything to China with a cc and it has a good chance of getting marked for fraudulent activity.

If it's a TD, don't stress. Do what they say. Everything will be fine.

First purchase from a non-typical location for Your card activity get´s flagged and it´s good to have at least some protection in place. Tell Your bank You started online shopping and authorize it, it will be ok for the future.

The same thing happened to me yesterday trying to order a GMT2 v2 from Ryan. I used a visa cc and got the same message. I immediately received am email asking if the charge was fraudulent and when I said no, they released my account and said all is well. Maybe your way over thinking this. Your bank put a hold on your account to protect you. This happens allot when an overseas transaction takes place.

Open a PayPal Account and be done with it. Make sure you set up PP to NOT automatically draw from your bank accounts if you don't have sufficient balance. If the TD you select will not accept PP, find one who will. There are plenty of them.

Yeah, all is well now and have now and ready to place an order, turns out you're a bit luckier than me due to them just putting a complete hold on my account and then having to provide ID in flesh. I was just in a state of panic when first heard the news. :)

I've selected my TD for a specific reason, but he only offers PayPal after the first transaction.

Press the TD and tell him you are willing to do the deal, but it must be with PP. No other option.

I haven't read the entire thread but this sentence is what it's all about. You picked your TD for a reason - excellent! Now, after you get past this first purchase you'll be able to use paypal and ready to load up on watches!

1st, PP is a option NOT offered to noobs by TDs. Too many issues with TDs getting f**** by noobs.

2nd, meet with your bank "in person"? No damn way....bullshit.

3rd, hell yeah a bank is gonna fraud a CC payment to China. Most TDs will tell you who the payment is going too, then tell the bank it's legit...deal done.

4th, WU is a simple, easy, no one gets f***** way to buy reps. Period.

Good luck :bless:
