Please tell me more about this.... I have (briefly) heard about it before, but have no experiences with Rolex reps whatsoever. I looked at a few gens the other day and thinking of ordering, however... So please enlighten me :) Thanks!!

Your crown rotates the hands opposite of ETA

The Yuki one is the one to go for if you simply must have hands rotate the "correct" way

Go buy a TC and call it a day. If you must upgrade buy a gen or Yuki movement after wards. No point spending a lot until you know you must have it.

do people pull Rotate your hands to see if it is rep or gen? A lot better upgrades. Ppl buy yuko because they have a gen dial and or hands. And they hate the thought of cutting a gen dials feet off.

cant go wrong with a TC LV or v6. I own both and building a 16613 now.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, but Maybe my question wasn't clear.
First - The only Rollie I would purchase would be a DSSD, and I'm not looking to upgrade movements to Yuki or anything like that.
My main question is: what is this talk of Gen Rollie crowns rotating the hands the opposite way?
I didn't set the time in the AD, but I would have to do so in the complete opposite way I do on any other watch? Confused! :(
Sorry and thanks (only curious)

P.S. I remember seeing this before somewhere too...

If you rotate the crown clockwise, the hands will move clockwise on modern Rolexes.

With most reps, you will need to rotate the crown counterclockwise to move the time forward.

All Watchs set time by sping the crown a)clockwise or b) counter clockwise.

I have been here over a year and this the first thread where I saw someone worried about this has their main flaw. This should be the least of your concerns.

Thanks dbane!

GMG, I was NOT worried about that at all. Not worried about it being a flaw or a tell, or anything like that whatsoever. I was simply trying to understand what people were referring to - you know, expand my knowledge a little bit... It simply didn't make sense to me, although now I get it. Only wanted to understand, my friend. Thanks for your reply :)

Edit: So thinking about my personal experiences over the years with many different brands of watches (I could prob spin a crown & set time in my sleep) - ALL of the watches I have had (to the best of my recollection) require the crown to move counter-clockwise in order to advance the time forward. Planet Ocean's, AP Roos, Hublots, Pams, etc.
This also apparently (as I've learned) includes rep Rollies. However, gen modern Rollies are different in that regard (i.e. virtually the only brand where crown needs to be screwed Clockwise to advance the time forward)??
Sorry for the silly noobish question boys, flame suit on! :)

P.S. I would still own a rep Rollie where the time can only be advanced forward by spinning the crown counter-clockwise ;)

As long as I don't hand the reps to others. No one would know or at least the gen public. I like what I. Call a 1 foot watch. If I can look at a watch from one foot away and not see the flaws, it's good enough

You just don´t hand over the rep, it stays on the wrist and that´s it. If someone can´t tell the difference from the looks he certainly can on how it works, how good the threads are, how well they fit and feel - and many gen movements just feel/ work otherwise - on the Omega Seamaster gen the hour-hand moves in 1-hour increments, not by simply moving forward as on the rep, something different You notice instantly.
