I believe that a grey leather strap would tone down the lbj slightly more as its already a very bling watch.

I do not agree. LBJ is less blingy than the shumi rep for example.
I have it and it's really easily wearable and croc strap don't change nothing on the bling effect.
Rubber = more sporty
Leather = more classy

Honnestly yes. The color mixing makes it really light compared to the Shumi and the pushers are better integrated to the whole watch design.
Finaly it makes it a less eye catching watch.
Just my humble opinion but you have to see one in your hand ! It's an underestimated watch.

The original strap does not fit the rep.
The original strap has an insert that is too wide, thus it needs to be filed down carefully.
Not sure if that will work but that is my theory...lol.

I like the watch ... but I have never, ever, in my hole long life, worn gold ... so I fear this will only be a very nice watch for me (from a distance).

I was like you. Not only did I dislike gold watches but I especially disliked the two tone gold and silver watches. My colleague wears a gen two tone cartier on bracelet and it looks awful. Another wears a gen two tone daytona on bracelet and this looks even worse.
For some reason the LBG and RG Schumi just looks and wears very nice despite my dislikes. I think its the design and the rubber straps that make it work. I bet that if you owned the LBG for 1 month your opinion on gold would change.

I don't do gold either. Not at all. All my watches are SS, and the only other jewellery I entertain is my wedding band, which is Tungsten Carbide (weighs a ton for what it is), by the LBJ really has me hooked. It's the bezel I think. It distracts from the 'in your face' element of the gold. I normally don't do rubber straps either, but this one is a work of art.
I need an LBJ.
After reading this entire thread I'm obsessed w the LBJ.. Resisting the order will only last a few days I'm sure
Currently my favorite AP's are the Lebron James and the Legacy. The Lebron is the most elegant one you can find. I ordered a custom made croc strap from Jacobo, using the rep inserts for a perfect fit (will be ready next month)
