Hey guys,

Just wanted to share some experiences of mine this week. No worries. Dead watch inclusive so it is not just an random post :S

First of all I've gotten scammed off 1300€. Via Paypal. This part is actually the worse one. Its getting my macbook stolen. As a student who is currently deep into exam session and starting my bachelor thesis next month this is absolutely ******.
If anybody is interested how I lost 1300€ / my laptop just say so. I have to say it was a really clever scheme the scammer used. I couldn't even believe it myself how I fkn lost money while trying to sell sth.

Second, I was longing for a PAM 312 for quite some time. After getting one from M2M it pushed my TC V6 aside as a daily beater and wow! PAMS are gorgeous !! Until it just dropped face down on concrete floor. :picard:

I'll never go without an deployment buckle from now on... Anyway, no scratches on the case at all and it dropped straight face down on the crystal. No marks or scratches visible. Movement stopped however and I immediately popped the casebook just to find several screws broken and falling out... Date function works, hour adjust too and it changes at midnight. Just seconds won't run... I guess off it goes to Micky who has done me very good in the past few months. He told me the seagulls he worked on were quite some poor movements.

Some eye candy for you guys !

Oh man sorry about your crappy week. I have to admit as well, I'd rather lose money over a macbook (or laptop if you're a windows fan). This happened to me a while back, now aside from critical work files, and saved worked related documents, I lost an extensive collection of photos. The worst is not the fact that my macbook pro was stolen, the hard drive corrupted and I had the split chance to back it up somewhere else but I didn't. Lesson learned, always have a back up of all your essential files, photos, etc. They are priceless...

Btw, if you can share your scam so that others may learn, it just might save someone else :)

Thanks for cheering my mates :) Tbh this is the first forum I'm participating and people here are way more thankful and sincere than I thought.

Well lets get to the scheme. This just proves how wicked and evil people are out there.

Prologue is that I was in need of a newer laptop. Since I need to run CAD and all the engineering stuff on it. So I thought It would be time for an upgrade. I've put my Macbook on sale on eBay ad's (just like craigslist for Germany) for 1300€ (bought it for 2200€). I had several interests but no firm bites.

One women however was declaring her payment.
She told me her son is in need of an laptop and he is studying in my city.
So her husband would pay me over paypal and after it was sent the son could come and pick it up at my adress.
I was fine with it since she was writing very formal and didn't seem like a average honest person.

After the payment arrived I gave her my number and I got an call from her son who was willing to pick it up within the next two hours. (Unknown caller, again did not have any worries since I got the payment and it is personal)

So after he picked up the macbook I was relieved that I had my money and was starting to look for a new one.
Two days later however the "husband" who sent me the money was writing me an message asking me if I had a tracking nr. and I didn't reply on his emails.

I've had a hour long call with that guy. In fact he was putting on an AD in which he was looking for a macbook. And the same women who was writing me did message him. She told him she had a macbook and he should sent the money to her "husbands" (ME) paypal adress. Of course using my last name when messaging him. That is how I got the money...

in the end he gets his money back. My macbook got stolen worth 1300€. Police told me this scheme happened several times before and its called triangle scam.

bummer...

anyone selling via online ad's.. I advise just put it up for pickup and demand CASH.
I couldn't believe it myself how low people can get nowadays. The guy was not much older than me maybe 25. Was looking decent.

With some luck you will run in to that guy someday. When you do, kick his teeth in.

Exactly! Most people would. You need to be a scumbag to think that way and see it coming.
Sorry to hear PT and thanks for sharing. It may save some others...

This sucks man - truly sorry to hear about this story.

But lets chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned. I believe that unless you have the support of a larger organization (eBay) or similar, or the support of a forum such as ours, it is always a gamble to us paypal to receive funds. With pp some asshat can easily file a claim and receive his money back and you can get screwed with minimal options in retrieving your item or your funds.

With face to face transactions like this, i would insist on cash and meeting in a public place.

I hope that you have filed a police report and opened a ticket with pp and explained the situation to them. Dont know if anything will come of it, but you can certainly try to fight.

Really sorry to hear about your week. Karma will hit back the scumbags sooner than you know. Keep your chin up, this too shall pass. And your watch will be back up and running in no time.
I have a similar story to share from the early days of eBay. I was a high school student then and was selling a T-Mobile Sidekick (any one remember these?) This guy bid on my item and paid promptly. Then messaged me asking if I can ship to his sister's house as he will be working and no one will be at his paypal address to sign for the package. Sounded very professional about it and as an inexperienced high schooler I shipped it off to the "Sister's address". Then a week later I get an email for the paypal email address asking for tracking number. I reminded him that I had provided the tracking number already and confirmed that it was delivered and resent the tracking number. He replied back furious that I am a scammer and I had provided him a false tracking number as the delivered zip code did not match his paypal address. And filed a claim with ebay and paypal which I lost and money got taken out of my account. I dont remember exactly how much it was for but It was a lot for a high schooler at that time. Never aging did I ship to non verified paypal address.

Man, I'd be on a crusade... Do you live in a building with security cameras or are there any at all in the neighborhood that might have caught an image of the guy who showed up? ID a vehicle? IP trace? Did anyone call you, back trace the number? Run the email address and see if anything comes back? File a fraud claim with PP and subpoena the account holders details? I wouldn't stop until I got my hands on my computer and them...

List another one, similar specs but with different contact details etc. Wait for the same MO, set up a meeting in a different local, and when you get him, decide which way it's going to go down...
