Hmmm.... I haven't been following the forums closely the last couple of months, but I am glad to come back to find a new AP decorated movement. I hope they do a better job on these than on the A3135's. Guys, before you start selling off parts of your current collection to "upgrade" to this new movement, understand that these are a big risk. Sea-Gull makes a nice movement, but they aren't made to swiss standards and often need a good service to start off with. Those Sea-Gull movements than go to some other "factory" in a basement of a building somewhere, where illegal, aftermarket components that don't belong on the base movements are added by relatively unskilled workers in less than ideal conditions. The chance of getting grime, dirt, tiny screws, glue etc in your movement shoots up 100 fold. Maybe you get lucky and get a good one, but chances are (particularly in early batches) you're going go get a watch that needs some TLC. On an undecorated movement, this isn't a big deal and should cost you around a $100 or so. Depending on how those decorations are installed though, they can seriously complicate you're ability to service a movement. If they are screwed in, hopefully they did a decent job on the machining. If they are glued on--well, that can be a whole other problem. If you're diving in on a v1 of this decorated movement, be prepared to spend double on your service on top of the cost of purchase. Since no one but you actually will see the movement--it's on your wrist for christ's sake--you might be a lot better off with your standard A2824 or, even better, Miyota sans the fancy decorations.
