just a little sneak preview

received my Explorer II version 2 yesterday. When I saw the qc pics I was immediately curious, but didn't get my hopes up because I thought that it just must be the lighting used. but as you can see in the picture below the lume on the hour markers match the hands. I haven't ever seen a factory change or make an update until the next version comes out, but obviously they have made a change. and now this watch is just about perfect. the datewheel is centered better than my last one. the numbers in the teens are slightly to the left, but nothing major. other than that. the watch is amazing. I consider it a super rep for sure. Here's a couple pics just taken with my phone. I will do a full review later.

Thanks R. I love it. Here's a pic of the first version 2 I got. There's a huge difference in the match between the hour markers and the hands if you compare with the one I just got.

The hands on that one were basically a stark white. and the hour markers were almost grayish. now they are correct on the one I just got.

The orange GMT hand color hasn't changed though, Im sure it looks better than on the pictures.

yes Jason, the cyclops is dead center spot on. I don't know if I've honestly had one this centered. It's kind of weird. But I'll take it. lol.

One thing I notice in one of the pics above is the rolex crown on the rehaut appears to be just a tad to the left of where it should be. when I look at the watch straight on it looks like it's lined up but in that pic it does look off. I will take some close ups of that too.

Why is that marker at 9 so bad. I hope it's just dirty and not scratched up. Hopefully you'll be able to clean it.

The one little thing that has always bugge me was the hand stack. If this was fixed, it would be a super rep. Imho

I don't know what's up with that marker, but they were not careful with it.

Jeff, I think it's a super rep without the handstack because we don't yet have a reliable correct handstack movement yet. I agree, I do wish we did have a movement that was reliable for the chs, but there just isn't one. For me, when you can put a watch side by side with the gen and can't tell which is which. I consider that a super rep. and with this watch, you can't tell the difference. as far as that 9 oclock marker flaw, being dirty like that it's not noticeable on the wrist. but it definitely shows in macro pics. I'm going to take my pics tonight with my good camera. I'm sure there's some other little things too. but overall you can't beat this watch. It's a great one.

G, I know 99.9% of the people would never notice the hands stack, it's just a little thing that always bothered me.

That being said, 99% of watch people could not pick out a flaw on 99% of our reps. So most of our quality reps could be considered super reps IMHO.

Always wanted to have one of these and the new Explorer II simply looks great in black. If You continue writing about it and taking pics I will have to get one too. Good it´s been improved. Congrats

I totally agree. there are so many great reps out there. The handstack definitely bothers me too. I wish it were correct. I got word a while back that there is someone working on a clone of the 3187 that will be made to the same specs as the 3187 movement unlike the current clone 3187 that looks nothing like the gen 3187 or functions like it either. I don't know that status on it, or anything. I haven't talked to my friend in a while, but this movement if successful would be a game changer in the rep world for gmt movements. I don't know anything other than that about it but there is or at least was an attempt being made to clone that movement. If it is successful, and if they are still doing it it would have the correct hand stack.

I totally agree about people not knowing what they are looking at. People just don't. I was just talking about this with someone last night actually. My dad had his 20 grand gold datejust with the president bracelet that he wore for about 10 years. he had to sell it when he went bankrupt. Last year I bought him the rep of the same exact watch. He has no clue what the differences are. If I would have told him it was a genuine he would have believed me. So even people that wear rolexes and have for years don't even know what they are looking at sometimes. they just know it says the word "Rolex" on it. I don't expect perfection on any watch I get. I know to expect little things. Like that messy hour marker. Hopefully I can clean that up, but if not, I'm not worried. It's not noticeable with the naked eye. and there may be other things too. I'll find out tonight when I take the pics. But with my eye, I don't really see much of anything off except for a few of the dates being a little to the left. I'm more than happy with it. especially since the lume issue is not an issue now.
