Hitting my head against a wall here with my 1680 build :frusty:

Snapped the second hand pinion so had to get a replacement 2813 from cousins , Then had to wait 3 weeks for a new set of 21J hands , Hour one fit fine , minute hand took some force but the damn second hand is way to small to fit.

Now Im not ordering anything more unless I know it will fit and if I cant find anything the whole thing is going to be a lost cause :(

Cousins dont list the hand size for the movement but ofrei lists the same ( labeled as DG2813 anyway ) as being 1.00/1.50/.17

Please Please Please if anyone can show me where to get a correct second hand or even has one lying around I could purchase let me know

Measure the pinion with a digital caliper.

If the .17 wont fit, youll have to use a .20 and reduce the hole size to make it fit.

Thanks Il measure it tonight , How to you reduce the hole size ?

The second hand I bought that is too small - could it be opened up ?

Makes sense but cant find any inverted cone versions and am not spending £40 odd for this , surely there is a simpler and cheaper option for either making one of these hands fit or getting hold of the correect second hand size ,

Ive just measured the cannon pin and it shows : 0.17 , the second hand I was sent from silix must be smaller than this :(

Measured the pin on the movement the spare second hand came from in my box and its 0.2

well it looks like silix sent you a non standard size hand then.

The 2813 seconds hands are .17
ive sized a eta (.20) hand to fit a 2813 before, and i realize its not the correct way to do it, but it worked out fine.
I used a pin vise to squish it to size

You could put the .20 in a vernier gauge and gently pinch it to .17. This way you can see where your at ;)

Thanks guys , those raffles hands look to be the wrong size unless im missing something ( 8.5/12/12.5mm )

Raddave good idea :) can see me going to small very very easily though

Jaycey ive got some vernier calipers so could do that not sure how best to pinch it though as I wouldnt be able to get a pin vise on there as well as the calipers.

I think jaycee is talking about pinching it with the calipers.
This might work too.

But id never subject my caliper to any load bearing type work.

Yeah you are missing something. That's the lengths of the hands. You're making this a whole lot more difficult than need be.

ETA seconds hand is .25 not .20

Almost all current 11-1/2 ligne ETA mechanicals take .90/1.50/.25 hands.

Almost all current lady's sized ETA mechanicals take .70/1.20./.20 hands

Most older 10 to 11-1/2 ligne ETA mechanicals take .90/1.50/.20 or .22 hands.

KBH, I think Ssteel was correcting me when i said i sized a eta hand to fit a 2813.

Yeah i though it was .20, not .25.
But i was still able to get it to fit a 2813

My bust guys......Sorry
