Do you claim your rep is genuine?

i dont think ive ever been asked if i was wearing a rep or gen.
im not really sure if people think theyre gens or reps.
they probably could care less and just see it as a watch.

personally, i think its pretty tacky to ask someone whether something they own is fake or not. even if i knew it was a rep, i would never ask if they didnt volunteer the information.

most of the time though, nobody really cares if your watch is a rep or a gen.
if they care enough to ask, they probably assume its a fake already.

If someone did ask me? I'd say it's a rep without hesitation. They then probably think you're being sarcastic and now they'll think it's a gen. lol

Nobody cares what is on your wrist unless it's attached to a hand that is doing something it isn't supposed to be doing....

I was once asked about my Rolesium YM by one of my lectures " Is that a real Rolex ?" my reply " well my wife bought it for our anniversary ", if I am on a hijacked plane and one of the hijackers asked if its a real Rolex , I would reply "I think so I bought it from MBK in Thailand it keeps good time"....he will surely smile and move away. Its no one 's business what I wear on my wrist.

I've never been asked about my watches it they are gen or rep as most people doesn't give a damn about watches. And a few close peoples that I know who saw a Rolex on my wrist never asked me if it was a gen or rep they only made me compliments about it.

Bottom line is it no one's business. Even if they ask you are not required to answer with the truth if you don't want.

To clarify, I just don't want people to think that I'm wearing a $25k watch. For me, nothing good can come out of it.

VERY wise counsel, mate. Whenever I wear my gen DJ & someone asks if it's real, I always answer "rep." I'm wearing $7k on my wrist and really don't want to be mugged because of that fact.

VERY true, mitch. As veterans of RWI can tell you: I've regaled them with stories of my wearing my first gen Rolex DJ for THREE YEARS before someone asked me if it's a Rolex. Turns out: he's a watch geek himself & proceeded to show me his gen Breitling Navitimer. (Guy was my brother's friend.)

Here is my view. I work in a position where I could afford a nice well used tudor, omega, or date just or even a sub if I wante and most likely not get questioned buy Co-workers or friends. However I can't justify spending that kind of money when I can get a nice rep that 99% of the people I am in contact with would never know the difference. I've never been asked if my watches were gen or not except by my boss once while wearing a sub. He said nice sub but those crown guards seem abit thick is it gen? I said no its a rep and he said looks pretty convincing here check out my gen day date. So to answer the question I would never offer out of the blue and say hey I am wearing a rep watch but if asked outright would say yes its a rep

Haha who knows, his boss might be lurking here on RWI. We just don't know it :p
That was exactly my thought! The average person in my life doesn't even know what CGs are, much less spot them as a potential flaw/ tell on a rep on someone else's wrist. Cool.

I handed my AP FC to my boss once. He didn't ask, but I volunteered that it was a rep.

He says "looks real to me...but I've no idea what a real one is supposed to look like." :p

Yeah, thats crazy. No one in my life would know an AP from a Casio :) and probably think their Tag to be worth 10x more :)

I asked he said no but said his dad bought a sub in 1990 and still owes it and that he has handled that watch a million times and he just noticed the CG'S seemed thicker on mine

Nobody cares what is on your wrist unless it's attached to a hand that is doing something it isn't supposed to be doing....

Like what? Waving, stealing, masturbating ...?

Cause if there's a way to start a conversation about watches with a colleague or even a total stranger
I really would love to let my left hand do something it isn't supposed to be doing. :devilish:

BTW noone ever asked if my watches are genuine or not.

I wouldn't tell them. It's noone's business.
I think "It's a gift from my wife." would be my answer.
And who would doubt that a loving wife would spend some buck to buy a genuine watch?
